Nepalese Gurkha Restaurant — Restaurant in England

Wow, had read about it on trip advisor. DON’T BE PUT OFF WHEN ENTERING a unique restaurant. Met by a wonderful man, who also was the chef. He told us to find a table, help ourselves to a drink out of the fridge, glasses, cutlery, etc. A “white board” explained the basic menu, BUT basically ask him to cook what you wanted! My husband asked for a chicken curry I asked for a chicken saag. We both asked for fried rice and chapati. We opened our drinks and waited, locals came and went, asking for takeaways and telling us that we would be getting a wonderful meal. One even said they wished he would open up on a weekend. More people arrived, and soon the place was full. Our meal arrived, bought on a rickety trolley, by the chefs wife, dressed in her national costume, wow. It is so long ago that we even offered another couple to share our table, but we did in this place, shows you what the atmosphere was in this special place. Wish this restaurant was near our home, as we would love to taste more of his food and share the experience with our friends and family. Well done chef, if we had to choose between you and Local celebrity chefs you would win. Value for money and...

Sadly i don't recommend this place, visited Saturday evening very run down interior, at our table the plates and cutlery were covered in a greasy film, I wiped them over with a cloth to make sure they were clean ( as I did not want to make a fuss). the food was ok, I have had much better back home in Salford/Bolton but this was the only takeaway locally, (nothing exceptional) but on Sunday afternoon I started with the most horrific stomach cramps and later that evening I had a fever and other symptoms associated with FOOD...

The food was okay, but unfortunately everything else about the experience was very disappointing. The restaurant felt run down, and the service was extremely poor. Partway through our meal, the person in charge started loudly yelling on the phone for about half an hour. This not only ruined the atmosphere but also left us uncomfortable.
