Pepe's — Restaurant in England

Been going here for a long time - order the family platter - extra sides and a bottle of drink. Eat in - normally they bring the food and plates etc to the table.

Ordered the same today - was called that our order was ready - went to collect from the till and got the food. Asked for the forks etc and was pointed to some on the counter. Asked for the cups to have our drinks - was told that it was 20p per cup.

Was told by the manager that it had been this way for a long time. When I said I’d NEVER been charged for a cup she bluntly said everyone does it all takeaways subway etc. when I challenged her and said I wasn’t charged this fee a few weeks ago she said well.. I said I need the cups so can I have them and a receipt- she said the system hasn’t been updated. I asked where it stated that there was a charge of 20p for a cup she said any the POS hadn’t been updated.

Poor quality food and rubbish service. We have given this place multiple chances. Once found a staple in my chicken, reported straight away, showed the evidence and was offered a free meal when I next ordered. Opted against the free meal but gave it to a friend and all he was given was a free portion of chips. A year later, gave them one last try for a takeout order and they forget to put the portions of chips and sides in the bag. Again, reported this straight away and a hour later some soggy chips turn up at my house.

Staff are rude and lack basic customer service skills. When phoning to let them know we are missing food, I don’t feel asking the question “have you checked the bag?” Is a good opening line. I have better things to do than to speak to Pepe’s staff on a Thursday evening….

If you’re thinking of ordering from Pepe’s in Kettering, I’d strongly suggest you look elsewhere. Our order took over two hours to arrive, and when we phoned to chase it up, the staff were not just unhelpful but outright rude.

When I raised the issue with customer services and asked for a refund, they simply shrugged responsibility and told me to “speak to Just Eat.” That says everything you need to know: no care for their customers, no accountability, and certainly no interest in delivering the service they advertise.

Takeaway food is supposed to be convenient and enjoyable. This experience was anything but. Based on how our order was handled, I would not recommend this place to anyone who values decent service, or a meal that simply turns up within a...
