From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with a friendly , calming atmosphere and the most beautiful spread of Middle Eastern-inspired treats. The sun-dried tomato hummus is a standout – rich, savoury, and perfectly balanced, especially when paired with their warm, fluffy flatbreads. The pickled vegetables on the side are vibrant, tangy, and just the right amount of sharp to cut through the richness of the hummus.
Of course, no visit is complete without something sweet – and the Persian Tea Room delivers in the most indulgent way. The Turkish delight is fragrant and melt-in-the-mouth, the baklava is perfectly crisp with that signature syrupy sweetness, and the lemon cake is a light, zesty dream that rounds off the experience beautifully. Read moreIn the season when sunflowers bloom in full glory, after wandering through the nearby golden fields, I stopped by the charming village of Great Ayton for a short rest.
There, I discovered Pomegranate Persian Tea Room, a lovely place infused with rich Middle Eastern character. The walls are adorned with artistic Persian calligraphy, their meanings lingering softly in the air. Every corner of the tea room is decorated with Persian carpets and handcrafted ornaments, creating a warm, soulful atmosphere.
The menu offers a delightful crossover of British and Middle Eastern flavours — from Turkish sweets to traditional Iranian cakes. On our visit, we ordered Baklava with ice cream. The layers of flaky pastry soaked in pistachio syrup, paired with cake and vanilla ice cream, were absolutely delicious — a memorable treat.
