For food and drink i can't comment, but I am a parent of 2 young children who has managed restaurants for 10years and 2 childcare nurseries for 3 years, my opinion of this establishments morals are appauling. I would hope that one of the key lessons coming out of the coronaviris pandemic would be to help others.

We had been on a 3 hour drive from grantham to whitby for a weekend break. 2 hours in to our journey our 5 year old boy who has global developmental delay was desperate to use the toilet. The buck public house was the first place we saw to stop. My wife took my son in to try and use the toilet whilst i waited in the car with my other child who was asleep. She returned swiftly as they wouldnt let him use the toilet as we werent customers. My son became upset as he needed the toilet so i tried to returned a second time. I was told that they have strict rules, but that there was a public toilet just up the road in the village. I returned to the car, tried to sit my boy in his car seat for him to start crying saying its coming out. I returned a third time, pleeing to use the toilet, to be told that the lady is trying to look after her staff and run a public house, to which i said i would buy a drink if i had to, i just needed to take my son to the toilet. I was ushered to sit down first so that she could serve me a drink, at this time i was frustrated, sat down and got my money out of my pocket, put it on the table and said... please can i just take my child to the toilet! The landlady then said that she didnt want my money. Disgusted I left the premises and took off on foot carrying my child to find the local public toilets that i found were a good 400m walk.

This experience didnt add the best start to our families break away and im sure left the team members stressed as confrontation is not what you want to experience at work, especially after having so long out of work due to the coronavirus pandemic... however this event should never have happened if better customer service and the will to think and help someone else before yourself had been considered.

You never know the position of another human being, some disabilities arnt always visible and the care for a child should have been of the uptmost importance.

I believe morals and good nature is so important in life. I believe the land lady and staff memebers on shift that day, deep down know that this isn't the correct way to look after a child and i hope for the next customer in my situation they treat differently and work with them to help a...

The food was beautiful 3 parmos and a steak pie, the parmos were succulent and tasty, the steak pie melted in the mouth. The service however was truly appalling. A wait of around 15 min before the menus arrived even though we had told the staff we were there, a reasonable wait for drinks and food, but at no point did any of the staff come and ask if our food was ok, nor did anyone come back to see if we wanted more drinks. It took 40 mins to attract attention to the fact that we'd finished our food, the waitress cleared only part of the plates, dropped a fork which she left on the floor and didn't come back to see if we needed anything else. Another 15 minutes later we decided to go to her, she was drinking coke and playing on her phone when we finally found her. Another 15 mins before the desert menu arrived, (kicking the dropped fork on the way) and the rest of the main course dishes were finally cleared to make room.

As for the bill, lucky we're honest people, it never arrived, we had to go and find the waitress again in order to pay. If the place had been rammed and the staff run off their feet fair enough, but there were 4 of us and 1 other couple eating and 2 couples having drinks. Hardly busy. the food is really lovely but the staff and the service left so much to be desired. Think it's going to be a while before we go back, hopefully by then the staff will have either been changed or have been shown how to run...

Myself my husband and two friends went to The Buck last night, it was quite busy with diners in the bar area as well as the dining room where we were. The serving staff were really attentive seating us at a nice table with plenty of room around us, supplying 4 menus at the same time. Drinks were ordered, it wasn't long before they arrived. We ordered our food 2 small Pork parmo's for the guys a small Chicken armo for my friend with a small fish & chips for me. We started to notice a number of flies around the mirrors on the wall next to us as well as at the back wall where another 2 mirrors were hung, there were at least 8 flies. Thankfully they weren't interested in our table or the food when it arrived. The Pork parmos and Chicken were enjoyed as was the big fat chips and a bowl of lovely fresh salad each, my Fish and chips were lovely but the fish was really small, I was a little disappointed if truth be told. I did manage to eat nearly all of my chips with the small fish which is very unusual for me. Overall the food, service and the price of £40.00 per couple was excellent. Maybe clean the mirrors and frames with something antibacterial to help stop the flies congregating on them. Next time we will definitely eat in the bar as it is a much lighter...

First meal out since lockdown and we were disappointed... Starters.. we both got Tempura prawns 5 each, can buy the exact same ones from Tesco for £2 for 10.. we paid £5.95 each. Main courses..l ordered the Rib-eye steak med/rare £18.95 it was tiny and tough, didn't look like a Rib-eye, l sent it back and got the steak pie instead which was nice. My husband ordered the pork parmo... the flavours were there, nice bechamel and cheese but where was the pork ..battered to within a couple of millimetres of its life and that was also tough and chewy. Chips were lovely, its only saving grace. Got only a quick apology when l returned my steak, obviously not that interested in why I sent it back. I may of returned the steak but we won't be returning!!

Lovely evening at the Buck last night. Arrived 20 minutes early for our reservation time so wasn’t sure if we were able to be seated however lady who served us was really kind and showed us to our table straight away. Ordered drinks and two large parmos with sides which were amazing! Always come to the buck for the parmesans as they are the best! Was my partners first time visiting and he thought it was really nice and the food was lovely for a reasonable price for the portion! Definitely coming back again!

Lovely pub, with great food. Not a vast menu, but plenty of imaginative choices. I had the half Chicken Parmo with a side salad, which was exceptionally tasty and generous. I can't imagine being able to do justice to the whole one. Very generous portions & the sweet potato fries are probably the best I've had. All nicely presented. Friendly staff and reasonable prices. Another star in our short visit to beautiful North Yorkshire.
