Poverina Inn — Restaurant in England

After seeing a message on the local Facebook page asking for people to give the pub a try my wife and I popped in for lunch on a Friday afternoon. What a mistake we made! We paid £10 something each for a Hunters Chicken meal and have to say in all honesty it was probably the poorest value pub meal we've every had. The overall presentation was dreadful, just some food plonked on a basic, no frills small kitchen plate. The meal consisted of two soggy onion rings, small chicken breast with bacon and cheese topping, and RECOOKED YES RECOOKED ROCK HARD), inedible chips, and NO garish whatsoever. We really should have complained and asked for our money back when we were given this excuse for a decent pub meal but being British we just ate the chicken (which was reasonable in truth) and the onion rings, and left the disgusting chips. It has been some time since we last visited the Poverina and believe me it will be longer until we return. Honestly it was no wonder the place was practically empty and, of those in, no one was eating. In future we'll stick with other local pubs which offer far better quality,...

Just been to pub for first time f tea tonight as a birthday surprise f a colleague. Horrendous time was had for myself and my two colleagues. We ordered food and the bar staff who was eating a full meal at the counter when I first came in. We ordered food but she got our order wrong. When this was mentioned by my colleague the barmaid went into kitchen calling us liars and let us hear her doing that. She was challenged about this and the attitude from her was disgraceful. A person came over to our table who I now realise was the manager and again a rotten attitude from her about the issue we had. My colleague was served raw meat with blood still coming from it when she asked for steak to be well done. Out come of it all is that the manager became really aggressive and stuck her fingers up at us and swore at us. I have never been in a place with such staff being in charge. Absolutely no customer service skills, attitude to customers and foul language around their own kids that were there, demonstrates what kind of people are running that business, wouldn’t recommend this...

The function room at the back of the pub is very good for parties. Not too big... a long oblong room. Decorated nicely is great for family gatherings.. Birthdays etc. It looked lovely for the retirement party I was at. Staff were helpful... served with a smile. A small dance floor. Music played in back ground. Tables and chairs beautifully covered. It was an excellent night. Very cosy and able to talk and chat with everyone.. The buffet was gorgeous.... so fresh and plenty to choose from. From cold to a curry and rice. Chips potatoes veg meat in gravy. Wow. As for a cake it was laid in a design as cup cakes individually for everyone to help ourselves. Nicest cup cake I have had. The icing design was very pretty. Tasted delicious. So I would recommend here....
