March 2024 We keep saying delicious and the best yet. It always is. Food and service superb. Best in Darwen.
ANOTHER UPDATE. 12/11/23 We went again today and we are what you would class as regulars now. This place is faultless. The Sunday set menu is fantastic value for money and the à la cartè has many diverse dishes. Service is always impeccable. Food is always delicious. UPDATE This is definitely the best Indian in Darwen. Although not on the menu, they do do a cauliflower side and tonight I even took my own aubergine. The food is always delicious and plentiful and the service is top notch. Toilets not quite finished but getting there. I wish they would bring the bill with the Bailey's. PREVIOUS We went there last night, Wednesday, at 5.30 for a change from our usual Sunday venue. We were warmly welcomed and served drinks (two pints of Cobra). The heating was on. We ordered three poppadoms (which came with a far too big a pickle tray), 2 mains from their chefs recommended specials with a vegetable rice, a garlic and cheese naan and a portion of onion bahjis. It was absolutely delicious, faultless and plentiful. Giving The Akash a run for its money? Most certainly at £42.00 with complimentary Bailey's. The decor is lovely. Miminalistic muted greys with the colourful paintings as a beautiful contrast. Not too bright. The service was discreet and professional. Not overly friendly. Downside? The toilets reaĺly do need attention to finish the refurbishment. Thank you. We will return very soon. Looking forward to their Sunday buffet which they said, is...
Β Β Β Read moreRecommended to this place by a friend several months ago - having tried it for the first time last night, I only wish I'd acted on his recommendation sooner!Absolutely beautiful food, including each curry being completely different in taste, unlike so many curry houses where everything tastes the same just with different levels of heat.
Also unusually for most Indians was a nice, slow/casual service. All too often as your starters are picked up, the waiting is hovering behind with your main dishes in hand! Not so here - we enjoyed our poppadoms first before the starters, then after eating the starters we had a good 5 minutes or so just to let those go down before piping hot mains arrived.
I would say the curries weren't huge portion sizes, but they were certainly enough.
Between 3 of us we had 6 poppadoms (with a good sized pickle tray, plenty to share!), a small mixed starter which was more than enough (1 bhaji, 1 samosa, 1 seekh kebab), then 3 curries with 2 naan, 1 roti, & 1 pilau rice. Unfortunately 2 of us were driving so just had water, with the other having a pint of cobra. All came in at an extremely reasonable Β£64, so I suspect with an alcoholic drink each it would probably be around Β£70. Excellent food with a drink for less than Β£25 per head cannot be faulted.
I will be back...
Β Β Β Read moreWe put in an order for Β£40 on New Year's eve for a food delivery at approximately 16.00hrs and requested delivery at 18.30hrs the food didn't arrive however it was stated the food had been delivered. We rung and rung ang but with no answer. To say this is disappointing is an understatement. This place in Darwen is new and I would assume trying to make a good impression however failed miserably. If they would have contacted us to say they couldn't meet the order that would have been fine but nothing , but then they ignored our numerous telephone calls. So now I will not be using this NEW place in Darwen and to finish i hope you fail miserably in your new venture. As I write this the delivery arrives to which I reject. So people please re consider using...
