We stayed in room 1 T'Gallants & had a nice view over the harbour etc. Staff very polite, friendly & amenable & fulfilled requests whenever possible.|Room was a good size, clean & in fairly good decorative order. Bed was very comfortable. We find in most hotels the duvet is always too hot. We requested a sheet & blanket & although they obviously do not have proper blankets provided us with a couple of throws which were a perfectly adequate alternative. |Also requested more milk pots for tea/coffee as no fridge to store normal milk. Housekeeping also provided these extras daily, but bar staff in reception/restaurant area more than happy to give you some fresh milk whenever you ask for it. |There is also no safe in the room.|Only 6 hangers in wardrobe so requested more, but they only had a specified number per room & could not provide any more, so if you think you'll need more than 6 take your own! Only one hook in bathroom so nowhere else to hang coats or jackets etc.|The bathroom, although very modern was a bit awkward due to the shape & the number of cupboards under & next to the sink. I'm not sure that anyone would need more than the 2 good sized wall cupboards. The lower cupboards also encroached on the area around the wc meaning you had to use it at an angle!|Note to owners: Please if you are doing any more bathroom remodelling you don't need all the floor cupboards & more room round the wc would be much more appreciated by guests I'm sure! Also not sure why the corner was cut diagonally in room 1. Didn't seem necessary as room would still be a good size.|Shower was nice & water pressure good. Plenty of hand wash/shower gel shampoo etc.|Breakfast offerings good, but cooked orders could take a little while longer than expected to arrive. Other offerings all good.|Had a lunch & a dinner in the restaurant & both ok.|Charlestown is lovely with lots of places to eat & drink, but if you just fancy a sandwich for lunch, your choices are limited. We ended up in one of the many supermarkets nearby because of this (Asda, Tesco, Lidl etc.).|Overall despite quite wet weather we managed to visit all the places we wanted to & overall had a very nice stay. Thanks to all the staff who did their best to make our...
Read moreReview of Rashleigh Arms, Charlestown, Cornwall:
Nestled in the quaint village of Charlestown, Cornwall, the Rashleigh Arms exudes a charming ambiance that initially promises a delightful dining experience. However, my recent visit left much to be desired, particularly in terms of service and culinary execution.
Upon arrival, the ambiance of the Rashleigh Arms immediately captivated me with its traditional charm and picturesque surroundings. However, as I settled in and attempted to place my order, I encountered a significant delay in receiving both food and drink from the bar. The sluggish bar service significantly detracted from the overall dining experience, leaving me with ample time to ponder the forthcoming meal.
Regrettably, the main course, Chicken Tikka Masala, failed to live up to even the most modest of expectations. The dish arrived laden with an excessive amount of salt, rendering it virtually inedible. The overpowering saltiness not only masked any semblance of flavour but also hinted at the potential use of subpar ingredients. Furthermore, the chicken itself appeared poorly prepared and lacked the tender succulence one would expect from a traditional Chicken Tikka Masala.
Despite the establishment's picturesque setting and promising ambiance, the culinary experience at the Rashleigh Arms fell short of expectations. While the slow bar service was a notable inconvenience, it paled in comparison to the disappointment of the Chicken Tikka Masala. As such, I must caution future diners against ordering this particular dish and advise allowing ample time to be served at the bar, should they choose to visit the Rashleigh Arms.
In conclusion, while the Rashleigh Arms may offer a charming setting for a meal, its culinary offerings, particularly the Chicken Tikka Masala, leave much to be desired. Proceed with caution, and perhaps explore alternative dining options in the picturesque village of...
Read moreWe stayed here for a 5 days Monday to Friday at the end of May 2025. Due to late booking and limited availability we spent our first 2 nights in the town house on the ground floor, our second two nights were spent in a basic room in the eves above the pub itself. The town house room was by far the better of the two, but despite less space and no view to speak of from either window, the basic room above the pub was still nice and cosy and finished to a similar standard. We were overall very happy with our rooms, but they need a little TLC to some of the paintwork and wood finishes to bring back the fresh, crisp look that adds the finishing touch. The staff were really helpful and looked after our luggage before transferring it to our next room. In fact the staff were incredibly helpful and genuinely warm and welcoming throughout our whole stay. Nothing was too much trouble and they even offered support and concern for our little boy when he became unwell. They really went above and beyond each day, a rare thing to find these days from a whole team, from bar staff to and management to the cleaning staff. I think the only constructive comment we could give would be, that the young men serving food in the evenings didn't seem to have the same organisation and efficiency as the other staff, they were still very friendly, they may have been new to the role. Food was good and as expected for public house/hotel, but breakfast deserves a special mention for choice and quality, a huge thumbs up. We had a couple of nice meals here in the evening, but felt the menu was quite limited and we ate out the other evenings, we did not eat here for lunch. This hotel is in a perfect location for visiting sites and many beaches. Overall a great experience for our first stay...
