Hands up, I thought it was a tad 'gimickey' when looking at the menu board outside of the restaurant in Charlestown but dug further and couldn't find one bad review so booked a table. Gimmicky is possibly the last thing that Rebellion can be accused of! The theming is beautiful - an intriguing mix of Industria/Steam punk/Nautical that works so well. The staff were professional, friendly and genuinely appeared to care and were on hand to guide you with the menu or help with suggestions if needed. It was obvious that they really knew the menu. I'm not a big cocktail drinker but did settle for a Pina Colada (I'm old fashioned like that). Beautifully presented as if it had just walked off the set of Abigail's Party (ask your parents!) in a glorious glass pineapple- perfect! Food-wise, such a difficult decision with so many temptations on the menu but I opted for the waygu beef burger (absolute class) whilst my other half dived into the beef brisket & mustard mash with the most gloriously rich beef gravy. The desserts were a work of art. This experience was perfect in every aspect - the staff, the food, the decor, the ambience and we couldnt of wished for a more wonderful way to finish our week in Charlsetown (oh, and it didn't break the bank either - thought the prices were really reasonable, particularly given the quality of the food). Everyone involved with Rebellion should be thoroughly proud of what has been...

So very disappointed with our experience tonight. We booked a table for 7pm weeks ago. We're locals, not on holiday and planned a good night out.

It became apparent very early on that we were being rushed. I mean really rushed. Barely had chance to read the menu and they were there to take the order! Then, had barely taken two mouthfuls of my food and they were back to ask if everything was OK. Felt very conveyor belt like. Then, we hadn't even finished dessert, and they slapped the Bill on the table!!!! Saying 'no rush but.....'

Totally confused, someone then came to the table and basically told us they needed our table!!!!!! This was at 8.30. How can you have a relaxed 3 course meal in 1.5 hours!!!?!???? Answer..... You can't! We were planning on coffees and chatting and all the things you do on a night out, but nope we were moved along!!!

It was supposed to be an evening out, but sadly turned into 1.5 hours out.

Apparently it said in our email that we had the table for an hour and a half but there was nothing at all on booking on the website. When the email came through I just checked the date and time. Lesson learnt. If it said it, I didn't see it!

Should definitely be made clearer, as we wouldn't have bothered.

Hugely disappointed. Won't bother again cos it's just a conveyor belt.

Food was nice but we wanted a night out, you know, to socialise and talk. This place wants you to scoff your food...

We came for an early dinner with our three children. When I explained my son is autistic and could we possibly sit away from other people in case he got upset and disturbed other diners, the hostess said don’t worry about other people he is fine we will look after you. She put us at ease and made us feel so welcome, her kindness was much appreciated and is generally the exception to the rule. Our waitress was also incredibly warm and lovely, chatting to the boys about their holiday and made sure we weren’t waiting long for food and drinks. The food was incredible, we had the brisket and mashed potatoes - the meat literally melted in my mouth! The children’s menu was great and the boys ate absolutely everything which goes to show how good it was! We stayed for pudding which we never normally do because we usually feel like we need to eat and run! Again, it was all delicious! Thank you so much to our hostess and waitress, you are a credit to this restaurant and we will definitely be back on our...

Fantastic mussels which were the highlight of the evening. Unfortunately the rest of the menu was mediocre. The uncooked cauliflower was very strange. Upon letting the waitress know they only offered us more cauliflower. The table next to us did not enjoy their meal and the staff were not too interested. They do not serve veg with the nut roast, which is a little odd. The roast beef is served on a sharing platter so you plate it up yourself. Shame it was not mentioned anywhere. The missing items from the menu would usually be okay but the Sunday menu is very limited so its not okay as you are very limited to alternatives. The staff seem uninterested in questions but are honest that they do not know, which is a little different to ‘I will find out for you’ which you get with better restaurants. I can see a lot of potential in the restaurant, but a couple bad things added together let it down in a big way. Look at the picture of the roast for three. Whats wrong with it being served already on a plate?
