I can confidently say that Spencers serves one of the finest Sunday roast dinners Iâve ever had. From the moment we arrived, the warm, cozy atmosphere made us feel right at homeâexactly what you want for a traditional Sunday meal.
The roast itself was flawless. I opted for the roast beef, and it was cooked to perfection: tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The Yorkshire puddings were massive and perfectly crisp on the outside, fluffy on the inside. Each element on the plateâfrom the golden roast potatoes to the seasonal vegetablesâwas clearly prepared with care and attention to detail.
What really took it over the top was the gravy: rich, velvety, and absolutely delicious. I could have eaten it by the spoonful. My dining companions had the lamb and the vegetarian nut roast, and both were equally impressive.
Service was friendly, fast, and genuinely welcoming, which added to the charm of the experience. It felt less like eating out and more like being treated to a lovingly made family mealâonly elevated to restaurant-quality standards.
If you're a fan of a proper roast, Spencer should be at the top...
Read moreWe visited spencers bar and grill while we were on holiday in the area. There is plenty of parking available and has a great atmosphere inside. We visited just after 5 pm. on a Wednesday evening, and it was quiet, but after 6 p.m., it did get a lot busier, so I recommend booking in advance. The menu is okay. It doesn't have much available, and you don't have a desert on the menu. You will have to look at the blackboard to see what they have on offer. There are plenty of seating areas we sat in the conservatory over looking the park. There is plenty to do in the garden for children to play on from slides to swings to roundabouts. The only thing I didn't like behind the children's park is a pond with no barrier around pond, so please keep an eye on your children as it's very deep water. I ordered a burger, and my wife ordered a mixed grill. The food was lovely but not the best but the price was very reasonable, better prices than local pubs. My children had pizzas, and they were amazing. I would highly recommend getting pizzas as they are not too big but...
Read moreThe venue is brilliant, the playground is heavily invested in & the lodges are very well equipped and comfortable. Great bar with local atmosphere, clearly a drinking hole for many locals. It is such a shame that the food is terrible. Chips are over cooked / double cooked and saturated in oil, not nice. Everything deep fried tastes of fish as it is clearly cooked in the same old oil. The burgers are nice, other non-deep fried foods are nice. Pizzas are bought in from a wholesaler and not made fresh - all things you would expect from a restaurant that has too much selection on its menu & everything ends up being generic, bought from wholesaler and simply heated in the kitchen. The outdoor area is ruined with the smell of burning oil vented into the childrenâs playground making the two or three tables immediately outside the conservatory completely unusable when the kitchen is operating at peak times. Small changes to the menu and the kitchen would make this place a great evening destination...
