Spices of Paradise — Restaurant in England

My father in-law took my husband and I to dinner at this lovely restaurant. They are both huge Indian food fans and I'm the silly American that only knows one curry I really enjoy back home. I investigated their menu but didn't see the dish I knew from home. Thought I'd figure it out and take a chance on something new. What I didn't know, was my father in-law had phoned them ahead of time to inquire about the dish I really desired. When we arrived, it was a beautiful atmosphere with incredibly friendly staff. To my surprise, they had found the closest dish they had to the one I loved back home and added the missing ingredients for me. They had this planned all before we even arrived! I loved the food they made for me, it was such a kind gesture and they genuinely went above and beyond for me. I am so touched by their act of kindness and their incredible food!! I highly recommend and will be back whenever I return from America. Thank you for your hospitality and please don't change a thing! That was incredible and I'm so grateful for...

Went with family last night. The place was almost completely empty.

13 year old ordered Sirloin steak, arrived 10 minutes before our orders and was as tough as old boots.

When the rest of our food arrived there was no serving table set up. Waiter just brought main plates plus sides out one at a time from the kitchen and just handed them across the table. My daughter and wife both ordered Salmon tawa as a sizzler dish after asking for it especially. Came as a normal tawa ! we decided we had waited long enough so they just eat it. Hot plates seemed to be a second thought. When we had finished eating the waiter had us pass all the corkery down the end of the table to him instead of collection. Awfully awfully service and experience. Have actually been for meals many times including numerous Christmas dinners. Service and food has never been this bad. Will be a longtime...

New website for ordering takeaways online now has dishes which are more expensive to take away than they are to eat in the restaurant. Must be the only place in the world to charge a premium for not benefiting from table service! In addition the advertised 10% discount for takeaways is never applied so at best the takeaway is the same price as eating in. Last night's lamb dish was also not great, the lamb was tough and chewy and little of it. It has been much better in the past so hopefully a one-off but Spices needs to get its pricing model right and ensure consistency in food quality otherwise customers will start...
