Budget-friendly, but that's about the only flavour you'll find! This place is a bargain – and you get what you pay for. Think lukewarm enthusiasm, questionable cooking skills, and a side of awkward service. Clearly, a team with loads of potential, but in desperate need of a pub mentor (or a flavour transfusion). Let's break it down: The "Money first, drinks later" shuffle: We arrived parched after a three-hour drive, only to be greeted with a preemptive payment request before a single drop was poured. Shy waiting staff & the missing salsa mystery: Our waiter mumbled something barely audible and then vanished. As for my "oozy" mozzarella bites? Bone dry, with a side of fiery BBQ instead of the promised salsa. Oh, and if two microscopic rocket leaves count as a salad... then mission accomplished? The tale of two fish: My "large" hand-battered fish looked suspiciously like my partner's "small." Overcooked, sadly. The chips and spoonful of peas were passable, but nothing extraordinary. Look, we had a good time because we were celebrating family. But let's just say this place won't be on our recommendation list. As a former publican, I see a team with untapped potential. Get these folks trained up, add a dash of life, and maybe inject some actual flavour into the food. Then it might be a contender!

Excellent all round! A warm, cosy, traditional (but up to date) family pub with plenty of space inside and out. Dog friendly as well - I presume for well behaved doggies! Easy access and plenty of parking. Really delicious, well cooked, beautifully presented, high quality food, served in generous portions and all piping hot. A perfect venue for a tasty Sunday lunch! Normal well stocked bar seems to cater for all tastes. Their prices are very reasonable indeed, and the "two for one" roast meals are really excellent value. The staff are welcoming, helpful, charming, attentive and delightful - what more could one want? Very highly recommended: we will be back before long! Thank you for your hospitality.

Had a lovely afternoon here, and some good food, staff were pretty quick to seat us and look after us, great table service, great location too, lots of parking, toilet facilities, in and outdoor seating, Quick update, returned for some Sunday food as its been a hard week, from arriving to ordering to a lovely plate of food very happy, discovered the awesome team working hard and I'd like to thank Caroline and Dan for making me feel welcome and a perfect winters Sunday evening. 5 star

Part of 10. Our meals booked in advance. Firstly booked for 5pm. After a delay with our table which was sorted. It seemed another customer was late therefore pushing us to a temporary table. All our party was reseated.our food actually arrived at 6.30pm. Whilst the steaks were nice I can't say the same about the roast lunches. Hard uncooked carrots. No mash on some plates.red shredded cabbage swimming in apple/vinegar tainted other food at first thought was pickled beetroot. Uncooked roast potatoes raw. A plate of beef roast had another type of meat - originally thought pork but turned out to be turkey. I advised the manager of problem with the roast meals. Her attitude was defensive and rude. Said she come to our table 10 times no one complained. She did NOT visit the table. The waitress asked the people @ top of table who had steak how was meal definitely NOT everyone @ table. The manager equipped no food left on plates - as the meat was put in a plastic tub for our dog the rest was scrapped onto one plate. After I informed the manager people who had roast were not happy she immediately went to the table and basically had a stand up row @ two members who tried to explain. Her attitude was very rude saying over 40 lunches no one complained. Quite frankly I don't care who had or hadn't complained. WE were complaining and she was not even apologetic or asked how could we resolve issue. I paid for two steaks advising the same waitress all paying separately however they were discussing with manager. As this is my local we have just started going back as there was a period of time food radically went downhill or only deserts available or oven food. For many weeks various excuses so we just didn't go there anymore. After we heard under new management AGAIN thought give it a go. Sadly it's no better. To add to the problem one of our party was still outside so the manager decided to bully him into paying the outstanding bill. NOT impressed you can't make someone to pay for others peoples diabolical food. She had the chance to work something out with our remaining party she chose not to! It's unfair and totally unreasonable telling him he had to pay £75 because SHE would be out of pocket SERIOUSLY. I AM MAKING A FORMAL COMPLAINT about the treatment we received together with the...

Been going here for 20 years won’t be going back it’s the only place I would go to taking a 40 min drive the food was always good unfortunately it appears to been taken over I went a few months ago with a group of friends and we all said food tasted different and there was a mix up with food order but thought we give it another go yesterday 7 th jan for my granddaughter birthday Upon pulling in thought it a bit strange as it was not packed as it normally was with only about 4 cars in car park Went In it appears they no longer greet you at the door and you have to go to the bar to get your booked table Sat down drinks order was very quick in being taken which is good and food ordered at same time within 5 mins are starters had arrived for the 4 of us even before are drinks arrived which seemed a bit to quick and within 1 min of us finishing our starter which was ok but not great they had taken our plates and served our mains it was all very rushed as if to get you out as soon. As possible with no time to allow the starters to settle

I Went with god and chips mushy peas with choice of garden peas bread and butter mine arrived no bread and butter and garden peas instead of mushy the fish was so burnt and little inside the batter it was terrible I Literally had to go outside twice to get fresh air because it made me feel sick my wife had the curry which was just average and grand daughter and her friend did not even finish there’s they wanted dessert which they choose ice cream choc Sunday thinking this can’t be messed up well they both left it as it tasted of just ice with no flavour like what you would get at Iceland

My wife did complain when paying about the food and items missing and how it was not good but still expected to pay the whole bill a total of 83 it was the. We also found out the 2 for 1 over was no longer available there she also mentioned the fact it seems to gone down hill since it’s been taken over and the lack of customers inside showed it’s gone...

Started off really well as we were an hour early for our booked table but this wasn’t a problem to the staff who allowed us to seat at our table. However when we ordered our drinks is when things went downhill. I ordered a bottle of Sauvignon blanc and was told that this had to be bought up from the cellar as they’d run out and they’d bring it over to our table. However a few minutes later I was advised that this bottle was out of stock and I was asked if I’d like another. I therefore ordered a pinot Grigio instead. This was handed to me without any reference to cost however when I asked if there was a difference in price I was informed that it wasn’t much difference so not to worry about it. When I got back to the table I checked the wine menu and this bottle I had been given was actually £3 cheaper! Therefore surely this should have been refunded to me? I intended to ask for it to be deducted from any desserts that we might order (seeing as we’d already ordered our mains). However our food took so long to come out (with all of the children’s meals being last to arrive, including one of theirs starters which actually arrived after all the mains). We also had to ask about our sides as these hadn’t arrived and apparently weren’t in the cheque in the kitchen so there was a further delay with these being received and eventually coming as we’d almost finished our mains. After all of this, once the children had finished their food and drinks we left. The food was mostly nice; I ordered the chicken kebab and fries and unfortunately the chicken was a bit fatty and the flatbread was very dry. My son had the fish and chips and he said that the fish was chewy and he left half of it, which is unheard of! Everyone else said theirs was...
