Weekday evening family birthday meal. Food was excellent. Service was ok. I think a few large takeaway orders were holding up service in the restaurant. We waited 55 minutes for our food. There was no heads up about this, just an apology when it finally arrived.
It WAS worth the wait and would definitely recommend. Requested we paid cash when we booked on the phone. There's a cash point over the road. It's priced at the top end for this type of food and needs the service and payment facilities match the quality of the food.
The tandoori king prawns in the curry were shell on and split down the middle, other chicken pieces in curries were large cuts. Naans were fresh and light. Paratha was one of the frozen ones you can get in Tesco/Asda by Humza/Shana. These are great but expected home made.
Restaurant space is very nice but wouldn't want the table by the door this time of year. Needed a bit of atmosphere, maybe someone working front of house/bar full time, background music maybe and maybe a goodwill gesture (e.g. a drink or small plate of something free of charge) to guests who have to wait almost an hour for food while watching takeaway customers walking out with their (way...
Read moreI would rate their food and services 10 out of 10. I had the Beef Railway, which was recommended by the waiter. I asked for something hot yet enjoyable, and he confidently suggested the Beef Railway, assuring me that if I did not enjoy it, I would not be charged. It turned out to be the best curry I have ever had in my life. I visited twice last week, but unfortunately, I cannot have it again as I have returned to Switzerland. I jokingly requested them to deliver food to Switzerland, to which the waiter smiled and mentioned plans to open a branch there. The waiter, who is from Bangladesh, was very friendly, and the chef was also excellent, checking if the food met my expectations. Although the restaurant is located in a small town, it is honestly one of the best Indian restaurants in the UK, and I have tried 12 Indian restaurants in the country. Thank you...
Read moreWe had a short break in Brampton recently and decided to have a takeaway meal one evening. My wife fancied a doner kebab, which I ordered from Star Anise. This was the worst doner kebab, which she has ever had. The quality was very poor. It was a very small portion, and it was very poor value for money. I am only glad I had a Chinese meal from the shop over the road!
In reply to your response that you don't sell doner kebabs: I am sorry that I got the food order wrong, I think it was a mixed grill and not a kebab. Nevertheless, it was still very disappointing. This is a shame because on our last visit to Brampton in January, we both enjoyed our curries which came from your restaurant. They...
