Sukanya Thai Restaurant is located in a small village called Denham. It a short 5 minute walk from the train station. The address says Uxbridge, but don’t be fooled, you won’t find it in Uxbridge itself, it is a 15 minute drive away.
It’s not very big, seating about 40 people, so you if you are thinking of coming in the evening it might be worth booking. Put in perspective, I visited on a Sunday lunch time and by the time the meal was finished, there were only a couple of tables available.
You can eat here and lunch or at dinner. However, my personal preference is to eat at lunch when they have a lunch deal – which is also available on both Saturdays and Sundays.
With the set lunch you get a mixed starter and one of the main courses (£8.95). Or you can just have the main course (£5.95).
And yes, they do serve the prawn crackers as standard. The white prawn crackers are really the standard ones you get at any Chinese/Thai restaurant. However the brown crackers are slightly different. They are a bit more peppery, not spicy, but peppery.
You get a mixed starter to begin with. Really really delicious. The satay is not dry and the prawn toast is really really packed with filling.
Having frequented this place a number of times, I have found out that if you want Thai catering that they are willing to do this as well. Apparently they cater for weddings, a la buffet style. The reason I brought this up was because I can easily imagine the starters being made...
Read moreToo good, was recommended by the Owner who my Husband met at some venue & were discussing Thailand & the food there, not knowing throughout that he was the owner. After a couple of months we were in that area around lunch time on business & my husband said someone highly recommended this place for authentic Thai food. We had lunch here middle of the week. Busy restaurant even on a week day. Parking a little difficult, busy parade. Ambience beautiful, Service excellent. We asked for authentic Thai spice level & wow it was too good for words we said to the waiter an acquaintance recommended this place & said mention his name he’s a regular customer here & ask Thai spice level & you’ll love the food. He asked the name & my husband told him, & he said that’s the owner. We were shocked & surprised, but anyway, too good for words. It was as good as our holidays in Thailand. Great place if your a...
Read moreFirst visit. They seated us half an hour earlier than our booking. Restaurant very small. Tables were practically touching! Interesting colour of mint green for serviettes and table cloths. Thai red wine was delicious and smooth. Thai and prawn crackers given complimentary but no sauce. Thai crackers had a distinct fishy taste and a kick of chilli at the end. Crispy duck and pancakes - duck was extremely crispy (hardly any meat) and too many pancakes for two people. Chicken penang curry was the best but a little watery as we had it with noodles. Vegetable golden noodles and stir fried green veg were delicious. We finished everything! Jasmine tea at the end was a lovely finish. Service was a bit naff. One particular waitress was just standing there staring at us, whilst the other workers were all busy doing their jobs. We had to ask for more drinks. Very expensive...
