Overall, a really nice experience. Quite surprised to have to give a card to the host to dine. Menu was OK, (few gluten free options) but we landed on some items while enjoying an inexpensive decent Rioja and some Rebellion beer. Things got interesting when our starter arrived; really well-seasoned fried cauliflower with a creditable chilli sauce and lovely mint-dressed salad. Tasted waaay better than the menu description and really got our attention. Then wifey enjoyed a huge, crispy chunk of pork belly over some wilted spinach on lightly-truffled chive mash with a nice jus to moisten and season everything up. The chorizo jam was delicious and totally elevated the dish. I enjoyed my fresh sole fillet served over nice roasted asparagus and new potatoes in a creamy seafood sauce. Not really dessert eaters, nothing really noteworthy so we enjoyed some sorbet. Overall it was decent value for money and we will definitely return, the fish and chips flying out of the kitchen looked awesome. Josh was a friendly host and I’d recommend the food.

I booked a day before before and wanted to go to The Swan Inn but, they had no space. We had visited The Green Man before and when I called the gentleman said he needed to check if they had a table, he came back and said they did. I asked if they had a turnaround time, they did 1.5hrs, which I wasn't too keen on. He said don't worry you can stay for 2 hours. However, they didn't make us vacate and we were there for 2.5hrs. I'm not liking the turnaround time restrictions being imposed; when you go out for a meal you don't want to be rushes, especially as you can't have a drink now. I'm so glad we chose The Green Man, the staff were fantastic, so friendly, it had a lovely atmosphere in the place. We had to ask for water 4 times before we actually got it but, the staff were so lovely, I didn't mind. The homemade fish pie was delicious, it's one of the best I've had. My partner really enjoyed his burger. The only reason for 4 stars because they didn't have a great dessert selection, it was very disappointing. We will definitely be back.

Prices are like in central London. We had Sunday rost beef which was tasteless. My 2 friends had chicken roast and chicken was pink (raw) in the middle. We complained and chef sent us another 2 chicken legs. I will share picture with you. Chicken smelled like burnt hair so we think chef used flame to burnt skin to give it colour. Of course we couldn’t eat it. They gave us dessert on them as an apology.(thank you for that ) . Roast chicken should be roasted and not colourless. Gravy didn’t have any taste. I ate there with friends one year ago and food was great but this time we couldn’t believe it how bad was it and as I said we paid central London price for it.

To give this review context, I have been in this pub to eat & drink many many times but this review has been prompted by most recent visit last week.

The venue is very nice as always. The lunch that I ordered for myself & the drinks I ordered for a friend and I were also good if not a bit on the pricey side.

This is where this gets interesting.

Bearing in mind that everything I ordered was done at the bar (I paid up front). At the time I didn’t pay 100% attention but my bill. However, when it was rang up I thought to myself that was even more pricey than I thought it was going to be.... on later inspection I realised why. A 10% service charge had been added to entire bill. The 2 drinks I ordered, I carried to the table myself (where is the service there?). The lunch that I ordered was “delivered” (more like dumped) down on the table by a young lad, however no cutlery was provided (again not exactly good service).

We also bumped into some others we know in the pub & I have today confirmed that they too ordered at the bar and received a service charge on their bill.

To add a service charge to a bill is rather presumptive that you are about to provide a good service. I even get that a charge may be taken if you were in a large party but for 2 people that is ridiculous.

The biggest thing I don’t like about it was that I wasn’t notified that they were going to charge me up front. When the customer is doing most of, if not all of the leg work it darn right annoying, hence this review.

It’s a shame as this comes across as rather money grabbing.

The sad thing is that I have received good service in the past and always given a tip when settling my bill. On the particular day I was at the pub it wasn’t even that busy so that can’t even be factored in to...

I visited last week with my wife, i must say i was SHOCKED! The managment has changed and not for the better! Last time we came there was a young man as the manager and him and his team were lovely and could not do enought for us. Sadly this time the new manager was a mess! and the menu was very limited. We were sat at the table nearest the kitchen and after sending back my green man burger two times because it was RAW (Swimming in blood RAW) WE Could hear the chef being rude shouting and swearing saying (THE CUSTOMERS ARE WRONG) MY wife had the fish and it was greesy and tasted as if it was frozen not fresh she left 90% of it and did not send it back as the so called chef did not seem intererted in any feedback from paying customers. After talking to our waiter and getting a mundaine response we asked for the manager and kept getting told he is upstairs watching tv (how we laughed) he must have come down 4 more times after that just to make himself pints of beer from the bar and run upstairs again as i glared around the corner at him he never came to talk to us or the staff did not tell him. We paid and left swiftly and went to eat at The swan next door (as my wife was so hungry) i must say the service was amazing and the food was to die for we even had the owner ask if we were satisfied now that is how to run a business. Night and day to the green man. We will avoid the green man until the management changes or the young manager...

My late wife and I loved coming to the Green Man. Staff were lovely, the locals always welcoming, and the Sunday roast a treat.

After nearly two years to the day I lost my wife I thought I would relive some memories and enjoy the football last weekend.

I have never been so upset to see that what was such a lovely pub has become the worst I have ever been to.

Entering the pub I had to force my way through a intimidating group of men led by a very drunk man bragging about how he had evaded the police in a car chase and spent some nights in prison as a result, and that it was not his first time. After going in it transpired that he was the head chef at the Green Man. He then went on to be disrespectful regarding customers, and his ‘right’ to have the table he wanted because of his position.

Inside was no better. The match was being shown in a marque in the garden. There was none of the characture of the pub I knew. The new management and chef are clearly brining in a very threatening type client. One that makes you feel intimidated and uncomfortable.

There were children in the pub, I don’t know how anyone could expose their child to this type of atmosphere.

As for the food I saw coming out to customers, I put the menu straight on the table and I left.

What has happened to this lovely...
