Today I returned to the Sunnyside Pub after being so disappointed 8 months ago.. I can happily say its now under new management and what a fantastic surprise, the pub was clean tidy, the staff were superbly friendly, the service was great the food was lovely especially the Pizza....! Quick service and a really nice atmosphere for a Monday music videos on the TV screens, which was a really nice change from football on my previous visit 8 months ago. I was also taken back by the fantastic service given to a group of individuals who were eating nearby. Also new benches outside has made the world of difference. It now feels like the bright Sun has now returned to the sunny side. I will be back ..! MOTHERS DAY REVIEW.... Firstly I'd like to thank you..! to the people on Table 35, who decided to order just before me.. and said to the bar staff their table number was 29...I somewhat surprised...to find that my table was also 29 ..? As I took my place waited and ordered..to then be told you have already ordered...which at that point the the penny dropped...the mystery customers on table 35 had orderd for my table... I thought wow how generous....! But alas No...! They couldn't be arsed to read the table number and guessed because they were clearly to lazy to walk back to the table to get the right number...thus causing confusion, as the bar staff went looking for the table ... then going to the kitchen and telling the chef "any orders for 29 are for 35 and any orders for 35 are for 29"... Unfortunately at point I'd already been waiting 20 minutes order and watched several customers jump into my space whilst I waited ...Unfortunately I was told the dish I wanted was gone and sold out...! And it will be a half hour wait on your order....! I returned to my table to inform my family I haven't orders anything yet and their will still be a half hour wait... and what confusion had been caused by the customers on table 35... We spent 40 minutes in a pub no order no food no drinks and I will say the music's too loud..! even the bar staff were shouting to hear...we then decided to leave as our time had been wasted...I even said goodbye to the bar staff and said cheers as I left...he was polite enough to say "have a good one".. So the moral of the story is ..if your a customer get the bloody table number right ...as your laziness cost the pub money and another customers a monthersday meal....!

Thought we would treat ourselves for a very rare meal out and to say the least I was not impressed. My daughter wanted mash, sausages and beans instead of peas with gravy (over 5's menu) she only had one sausage instead of two, she was missing the gravy that was suppose to come with it, the mash had hard lumps in it (you could tell this was instant mash instead of real potatoes) and when I was asked about her other sausage, I was questioned stating I had ordered from the under 5's menu, making me prove from my online receipt that I was correct. However I was happy they managed to sort this out with cooking an extra sausage for her but this extra one was extremely hard as if it had been microwaved. My partner ordered the ultimate southern fried chicken burger which came with a minuscule amount of 'crispy bacon'. He was also missing the dipping chicken gravy. I had ordered the pulled pork mac n cheese which gladly paid extra for the pulled pork however I had just recieved the mac n cheese, with burnt garlic bread and no pulled pork. This was corrected when mentioned and within about 4 minutes I had my pulled pork in a separate dish. We did want to order pudding but decided not to as would of probably recieved the wrong order or missing multiple other items from this. Such a shame as we have not been to this place in years and feel extremely disappointed. I will say that the service was great and good atmosphere but unfortunately dissatisfied with the food.

!!!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS !!!! Never in my life have i had such a poor dining experience, if i could rewind time and choose a different pub, i would. Landlady is the worst of the worst, such a disgusting attitude and was lazy, rude and generally didn’t seem to have a care in the world. Service was genuinely terrible, waited 20 minutes to get sat even though we had a reservation, staff running around like headless chickens trying to get a table together because apparently same day bookings are not worth preparing for. throughout 2.5 hours spent there, always 5-10 people waiting at the bar to be served by one man. Also was a young child helping put away glasses behind bar, surely this is some child labour and against the law?? food delivered to table and landlady came by and snatched it out of our hands whilst we were eating, saying ā€œwrong tableā€ !! and then gave it to another table, after we had eaten from it!!! so disgusting and clearly couldn’t care less about hygiene 30 odd children running around screaming, fighting, shaking the claw machines, felt like dining inside wacky warehouse. also big thanks to the DJ who had his disco light burning out my eyes all night šŸ‘šŸ» honestly if you want to not be able to hear each other, wait 20 mins standing at the bar to order, wait another 45 to eat a shoe leather burger, then this is the place for you.

It was lunch time and my pensioner friends and I went out for lunch for a catch up. I ordered from the bar and asked which soup was available on the lunch time menu. Jamie-Lee went to check, I continued the order soup (tomato), 2 mushrooms for starter, I didn’t want one, gammon x 2 and fish and chips x 2. The food was pretty good. However when my husband payed the bill, I checked the receipt and he had ordered from the main menu.!! I went to query the bill, he was somewhat arrogant to say the least, he said well did you ask for it, i asked did you ask me? I pointed out as pensioners it must have been obvious and I did ask what soup was available on the lunch time menu, so it must have been obvious, he just shrugged. I walked away as I did not need the confrontation. I wrote to Marston Brewery, the reply was much the same. It would make sense to me for staff to ask the question as to which menu you wanted especially as it was lunchtime. So our little lunch out together turned into a very expensive lunch!!! Shame really as we had nice afternoon. See comments from Marstons below. Thank you for contacting us regarding your recent visit to Sunnyside.

I’m sorry to hear you were disappointed when you were given the bill.

Upon looking into this I can see that the items on the receipt are unfortunately not the ones on the lunch menu. Please be advised that this pub do not offer an evening menu, but a main menu which is available all day. Unfortunately, it seems this was just a mis communication issue due to the member of staff not knowing you wanted to order off the lunch menu. We would always advise you state this when you go up to order, as they have to put it through the till there and then.

We will of course take your comments on board for next time. Please accept our apologies for any confusion caused.

So apparently the customer is...

I’m disgusted with the phone booking the girl told me no problem 12 people tonight turned up and we are all over the place had to move tables ourselves without any help totally embarrassing to my mother who 69 birthday it was and don’t get me wrong we see the funny side of it or she did? The food wasn’t to bad considering we didn’t know the kitchen closed at 9 so the chef done good good to get it out to be fair mine was not great with the sirlone steak but put up with it so brings me to the big point seems to me no one gives a toss after we pay all that money it seems to me you paid your problem!!!! Well no my mums birthday and we really don’t think there will be another one!!!!! I’m going to vent my anger out on your company I’m so frustrated!!!!! I’m going back to the sunny side tomorrow to find the guy who had the beards and glasses which I can only assume he was some sort of management as he constantly apologetic about the booking that was made!! It looked so funny how we had to try to put a 12 seater together ourselves in a cubby hole while the staff looked on with amused I had to because of my mums birthday but I can tell you no!!!!! I wasn’t laughing!!! So I’m going there tomorrow to express to your staff and get a name for the chao with the beard and glasses who did help up in the end!! Im not happy at all!!!! Not blaming all the staff but clearly need a lot education I know you think this is a big rant!! But big important day!! Im going to speak to your press office something...
