Dropped into this place with a friend after walking our dogs on Long Rock beach, looking for somewhere to get a coffee and get out of the rain. The conservatory doors were locked so I found an open side door (not realising it was staff only) and was confronted by a lady who looked like a manager. I asked if we were in time to get coffee and cake? 4.30pm. She said she could do coffee but they didn't do cake. I said, fine, we'll have coffee, can we bring dogs in? "No". Ok, we'll sit over there... pointing to the outside seating with a canopy over half of it where a couple with 2 dogs were sitting. "I can bring you coffee but you can't sit there as we're about to take it down". So what are you offering? Takeout? A mug of coffee while standing in the rain? She then backtracked, saying we could sit there and she could "find us some carrot cake". We accepted the offer and sat down at the soaking wet table. I ordered an Americano with cold milk and was given an espresso in a small cup with a tiny jug of hot water and a jug of steaming hot frothy milk 😆 I can't stand hot milk. The carrot cake turned out to be a hot dessert, loosely resembling carrot cake, with ice cream on top. Had we been told it was desserts only, we'd have asked to see a dessert menu so at least we could choose. At no point were we offered a menu. On each occasion I attempted to enter the building (to order and to pay) I was ushered out, saying they'd take orders and payment at the table. Ok, fine. Audibly reeling at the shock of the £21.78 bill for two coffees and some "carrot cake", the couple at the next table informed us that the restaurant charges £5 for table service. This wasn't explained to us prior to ordering and nor was it shown on the non-itemised card receipt we were given when requesting a receipt. Not only that, but a member of staff was watching us from the side door so the second we put our spoons down, they were out to clear the plates! Clearly, we weren't the type of clientèle they want in their establishment, two slightly bedraggled and damp middle aged ladies with dogs? Well, don't open a food and drink venue on a popular coastal path with an all year round dog friendly beach? If you don't want wet walkers popping in then presumably, you don't want dripping wet surfers either? So maybe rethink your name? All I can say in it's favour is the service was fast and the food may have been good if we'd been given any choice over what we ordered. The hospitality however, was as cold as the unwanted ice cream.

Lovely evening meal out! Despite some of the neg reviews we decided to try it based on the good reviews and weren’t disappointed. Greeted with a welcome smile and told no problem to bring our dog inside (they have a treat station!) Service was quick and friendly by both our servers. We saw the robot serving the next table so knew what to expect. It has to be escorted by the waiters to ensure there’s no chairs in the way, so it’s just a bit of fun, and you can see the waiting staff love it with their grinning smiles! Food was all really nice and we thought not too expensive, we had 4 dishes between us and two drinks for £53 which included a 10% service charge that I was more than happy with. We ordered crab meat on Welsh rarebit, fish-burger, lamb kofta and some cheesy leavened bread (can’t remember what it was called), and it was all delicious! Lamb kofta was hanging from an espetada which was cool, not very big kofta but very fine for us sharing the four dishes. Couldn’t fault the food or service, only thing that lets it down is the exterior, just needs a tidy up but they are doing some paving work currently. It’s right on the seafront with lovely views across the bay, especially sat in the conservatory, but the beach is hidden as the restaurant sits slightly lower behind the promenade. Really glad we ignored the negatives and went along for a very enjoyable meal.

We had the pleasure of dining at this wonderful new restaurant with an inviting open kitchen that filled the air with fabulous smells. The food was truly exceptional - not only did it look great, but it tasted even better. The menu offered a delightful array of dishes that were expertly prepared and bursting with flavour. The staff were friendly, attentive, and thoughtful, making our dining experience all the more enjoyable. The atmosphere was lovely and welcoming, adding to the overall charm of the place. And to top it all off, we were treated to a breathtaking view of the mount, adding a touch of magic to our evening. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience. It's a perfect place to enjoy delicious food, excellent service, and a beautiful setting. I can't wait to return for another unforgettable meal.

I'm bothering to review in order to help this place improve. Location was good, right by SW Coast Path, and tables in the conservatory area had great views. Menu described "Crispy vegan burger, served with skinny fries" so my wife chose that. I had the "fish" & chips. So, the burger arrived, it was in a bun and topped with a slice of cheese & on a bed of spicy tomatoe chutney, which, obviously, made the burger soggy, not crispy. Rather than complain, she scraped off the cheese & chutney & ate the burger & chips. My fish was battered, but, sadly, the batter was undercooked inside, but edible. The chips were nice & crispy. So, when the waitress asked if all was okay, "...all delicious?" MY wife pointed out the problems with her meal & was made to feel uncomfortable doing so when told that the menu did say with cheese. I didn't feel inclined to mention my uncooked battered as I'd nearly finished by then. Later, I found a menu & saw that there was no mention of cheese or chutney for the Vegan burger. The waitress saw me looking & I pointed out the item on the menu....and she commented "Oh yes, I thought it did" I explained, if a description was present, with ingredients, my wife could have asked for no cheese & chutney. She agreed & suggested we return so they could get it right next time. So, the bill arrived, with 10% added as a tip already which I was invited to remove if I wanted (& no reduction for my wifes disappointing meal), I was too embarrassed to do so & paid up. It was later that I noticed that my wife had been charged £3.95 for the smallest glass of cola....same price as my half pint of Corona beer!! So my conclusion is: overpriced &...

Disappointing. This restaurant used to be one of our favourite places to go for lunch and dinner, we used to go once or twice a week. Unfortunately, since they closed for the winter and have reopened, we have been once and won't be going back. The menu has changed so much that it's basically just fish now. Which for me isn't a problem, but my partner doesn't eat fish. They haven't updated the menu online, so we didn't know about the full menu change until we had got a taxi there for dinner. Service has always been a bit slow, but the staff used to be so lovely, and the food used to be so good, we didn't mind. Since reopening all the staff have changed and nobody really knows what they are doing. Management isn't great either, training is needed in customer service. Anyway, after finding out that most of the menu wasn't available (not even chips!) We had a feeling it wasn't going to go well..... starters took over an hour, and they didn't even bring my partners. They thought he wanted his starter for his main. Why? The waiter had no clue what he was doing. The mains took just as long as the starters, and by this point, everyone had left the restaurant, and we were the only ones left. The food wasn't great. And nobody really wanted to do anything to make our experience any better. The old manager would have never allowed this. We left feeling hungry and not wanting...
