First time I've eaten here. When I paid the bill the member of staff mentioned they had had a very busy day, which confirmed my suspicions as there were a few small issues with my food. l ordered the salmon and prawn cocktail as a starter. The few prawns and too much lettuce tasted icy cold, as if they'd just been taken out of the fridge. The dish wasn't seasoned and there was no visible sauce over the prawns. When I mentioned the lack of sauce the waiter brought me some in a small pot, so am not sure whether it's normally served with a seperate pot of sauce that had just been missed off the plate. Maybe. Otherwise I'm not sure why a prawn cocktail would be served without sauce or seasoning. My main course was a vegetarian Wellington. The Wellington, roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and carrots were very tasty, and hot. Unfortunately the parsnip, far too many sprouts and gravy, although all tasted nice, were cold . They must have been dished out too early whilst waiting for the rest of the meal. I must admit I didn't bring to staff attention that some of my food was cold. I'd had to ask for extra cutlery in order to eat my main course as none was brought after the starters were cleared away and I didn't want to get up off my seat again. I really enjoyed what I ate and had sufficient food anyway as the portion size was huge. The staff were very friendly and polite and I'm sure the issues I had were a reflection of a very busy and perhaps understaffed kitchen which is often the case with hospitality. I enjoyed my visit and it certainly didn't put me off eating at The Badger again. I thought it had a very...

I stopped by here with my mother after an eye-wateringly expensive purchase of plants from Dobbies, next door.

This was the first time I believe I'd ever been in but was highly impressed as soon as I walked through the door. It looks so much bigger on thw inside than it looked on the outside and loads of little nooks and crannies (and who doesn't like a nook or a cranny?) To give your dining experience a more intimate feel.

The staff were highly attentive and very professional and made us feel very welcome as soon as we entered.

On the visit I had beef main course, which was very nice with a great selection of veg with a very nice cauliflower cheese, still with some bite and a tasty sauce. Nothing worse than having something soft and cheesy, you need more to suck than chew.

My mother opted for two starters to pick at as a main course; the crispy calamari with a nice piquant mayo and the Devon Crab cake. After devouring my beef and veg, I started stabbing away at my mother's. Not, you understand because I'm greedy or the size of a small semi-detached house but, instead for reseaexh purposes. The crab cake was delicious and the calamari cooked to perfection. The only criticism was that the batter has softened by the time I started stabbing and one's not a fan of anything limp.

In conclusion, a lovely, friendly and welcoming establishment with cracking food at a good price.

Ample parking outside, just remeber to key in your registration at the bar to avoid being fined by...

A private room was booked for an annual dinner for around twenty people on a Thursday evening first week in February 2025. There were not a lot of other customers there at this time, a quiet night. Although the company of friends made for an enjoyable evening, the food was a great disappointment. My opinion is that it is very overpriced and certainly on that occasion, was overcooked and dry. Most of the party were in agreement, with "bland" being the kindest review. I paid £8.50 for a pate starter, for which I received a portion of pate the size of a credit card and about 5 millimetres thick. It did not have any exceptional qualities to warrant it's wallet robbing price, and of course requires little in the way of preparation to be served to a customer. My main course was the chicken parmigiana at £17.95. Again not a large portion of the main ingredient, but it's main fault was that it could not be described as juicy or succulent, it was much closer to being overcooked. Overall a very poor quality meal at an inflated price. The timing of the courses was good but glasses were not cleared from tables, so service not the best either. I do understand large parties present problems for kitchens but you either run a professional establishment or you don't. I understand some of the party did complain and were given partial refunds. I doubt that any recommendations will be given out from those who attended on...

OMG!! Where do I start!! From the moment we walked in we were greeted by the beautiful Paige who was an absolute dream soo friendly and the service from her was 5star We both ordered the beer battered fish and chips and we both agreed was the best we have ever tasted Beautifully presented and the taste was sensational Then of course we couldn’t resist a pud so we opted for the honey pot Can I just say this was Michelin star The presentation was unreal and we were both in heaven from the very first bite!! I asked Paige if I could speak to the manager as we were both in awe of everything Paul the assistant manager came over what a lovely guy a credit to this establishment We will be back by far the best meal we have ever had Thank you to Lee (head chef) for producing amazing food and of course the beautiful Paige and lovely Paul for the service This is a really special place and we will be back Big pat on the back to the wonderful staff You are amazing!! See you soon x

Opted to pop in to the Badger in Ponteland near Dobbies as the waiting time was too long at Twin Farms nearby. The wait was only around 20 mins to get served, not bad considering how busy it was. Good selection of food, however, it is rather lacking for vegetarians. Personally I would order extra sides of veg with meals to compliment your meal. Just check what comes with your order first. Deserts were not bad as well, especially as they serve sticky toffee pudding, even though that was served on a large dinner plate rather than a bowl. The dining area is split in to a number of separate dining areas which means it doesn’t get that noisy. Staff were friendly, pleasant and helpful. Prices were pretty much typical for pub lunches around this area. Large car park adjacent to the pub.

I’ve passed this pub umpteen times for many years and always wanted to pop in for a meal as the exterior of the pub looked so rustic and smart. The Mrs and I had lunch here today and we were seriously disappointed. Initially the large car park and the interior had me well impressed with cleanliness and decor but this feeling was short lived when our food arrived. Don’t get me wrong, the service was excellent but the meals were overpriced and seriously lacking in both quality and taste. The veg that came with the steak(less) pie was impossible to cut with the cutlery provided. I’ve read the reviews for this pub and can’t understand why it scores so high, chefs day off? why do others accept mediocre ? Would not recommend or return
