Greggs — Restaurant in Newcastle upon Tyne

Served just after 6am on 05/04 by an officious lad (name not known as he wasn’t wearing a name tag. He was a larger than life type). There was only 2 servers on and a family in front of me were already being served by a smiley friendly chap.

I had already noticed the manner of this guy who eventually served me and hoped I wouldn’t be served by him but I fortunately I was. He said all the right things but without any sincerity and just going through the motions.

I ordered a bacon roll and watched as he literally shoved it together. The bacon was all hanging out, the sauce just dumped and then all thrown in a bag.

Now I know it’s ‘just’ a Greggs bacon sarnie but I buy them because they are usually consistently good. Well cooked bacon, fresh bun and importantly put together so it looks appealing. Sadly this wasn’t the case on this occasion.

Winning today. I had purchased a few items, then decided to buy 2 donuts for myself and my dad. Unfortunately my card declined and my phone had died so I couldn't transfer any money over. At that time I was waiting for my dad to return to pay for the donusts from being outside for a cigarette. I informed the staff member of my dimela. The fantastic member of staff wrote off the price of the donuts as a good will gesture. Such a lovely gesture! These are kinds of staff that keep me returing to Greggs! Greggs are great, but if it wasn't for the greedy Airport owners charging such extortionate rents the prices would be much better. I drive past here everyday but would never come in for something as the parking is the biggest rip off ever. Such short sighted behaviour by the owners of what is basically a beautiful shopping mall with a few planes at the back. This place could rival the metro centre if they got their act together. One day maybe I'll offer to consult and charge them 5x the price for stuff and see how they like it. P s. The sausage rolls are still awesome,...
