This year I've turned 18. As we visit Northumberland and Newcastle every year at this time I looked no further than returning for this special occasion. This hotel met all expectations and exceeded them.
People wrongly think that Premier Inns are budget hotels. This hotel at Newcastle Airport exceed this label. Upon arrival we were greeted with open arms and a geordie smile! We had two seperate rooms but they accommodated us together as requested. The rooms were light, bright and cosy. And as Lennie Henry says in the advert, the Hypnos King Sized Bed was luxurious. The rooms were immaculately clean throughout our stay.
What makes this hotel is the staff. Their dedication to their jobs and their enthusiasm 24/7 shows in the service they provide. They are a credit to this company. Gill in particular at breakfast was absolutely superb and some mornings she even manned the restaurant herself in a calm and cheerful manner. The head of housekeeping was also fantastic. Staff evidently worked as a team and this gave the hotel a friendly and family atmosphere. We saw the same staff on reception as we did in the restaurant and bar which gave us a personaliised stay.
Breakfasts as at all premier inns were delicious. The unlimited costa coffe was an added bonus.
We ate in the Thyme restaurant one evening and the food was first class. Although we did wait a long time it was definitely worth it. The 2 for 1 happy hour on drinks was something we took advantage of and appreciated.
The hotel also had free wi-fi which was acceptable. If you are doing work during your stay, you should however consider upgrading for just £5 a day as it often disconnected mid task.
The hotel also left me a special gift in my room on my birthday which made me feel valued. Thank you!
This stay is something I would definitely repeat and would urge anyone to stay, whether their visit is long or short.
Once again, thanks for a wonderful 18th birthday!!!
A few niggles:-
A toilet brush in the bathroom would have been appreciated
I think the hotel needed more staff members as the staff seemed run off their feet
Unlimited Costa Coffee at the bar rather than pay per cup
The water pressure in the hotel was low and may...
Read moreService OK. Rooms incredibly hot and no air con. Rooms really quite small for a family of 4, but this was fine as we obviously only stayed one night to fly. Food terrible. I needed a non-dairy meal, this was incredibly difficult for whatever reason. Kind of alarming that the chef doesn't know what's in the food they're preparing, I got a burger without the bun and they told me there was milk in the buns (brioche)... but they sell vegan burgers so what buns do they go in?! They didn't bother giving me the salad that is normally in the burger... but gave salad to the people who had a bun? I was already paying more for less and got no salad or coleslaw. So I asked for some... it came, with dressing on. So I had to ask if the dressing was dairy free, they didn't know and said they would make another one. That never came. So I didn't have much to eat and still paid same. Didn't have time to mention it on the way out because the kids were so fed up at this point and ready for bed and so was I. Took a long time for food to come and children were well and truly fed up. If you stay I recommend going anywhere else for food. Server's were lovely and couldn't do enough for us. Oh and I ordered passionfruit gin, which was quite clearly a grapefruit gin. So not a particularly...
Read moreVery let down by our experience with this premier inn. Having used Premier Inn across the whole of the UK for many years I can honestly say this was one of the worst experiences we have had. ||The cleanliness of the bathroom really let the rooms down. Lots of pubic hairs left in the bath, worrying brown mark at the bottom of the door. My wife opened up her towel to discover some worrying marks, as if the towel hadn’t been washed. Lots of marks of the bed linen also. Black mold was also present on the bathroom sealing, this was evident in both or the rooms so I suspect it’s a problem across the whole hotel. ||Breakfast was a complete let down, having one member off staff to do the whole breakfast area is very disappointing, had to wait 10mins for her to realise we were waiting to be seated. Then a further 15mins for her to take our order for hot food we which then arrived cold. This is no means the women’s fault very poor management from the hotel. ||The reception staff were least than helpful when we raised our concerns in the morning, we were told all of our concerns would be noted but I doubt that very much. ||Overall the hotel is very run down compared to others we have stayed in, definitely...
