We came here today for a breakfast, we had a full English x 2 and a drink each, we had to wait a while but that's OK considering the times we are in, the young lady who served us was very polite, food was tasty, we sat outside as we have a dog so a little blustery...no-one's fault 😀, the reason I am giving 2 stars and may sound petty is because after spending the remainder of the day in Charmouth we ended up getting tea from the chip shop next door to cafe, it was extremely busy even though we arrived minutes after them opening, we didn't want to take up the tables outside as there were families that needed them more, our dog hadn't eaten properly for 2 days due to being unsettled, and so when he actually appeared to want some food, we decided to sit at the front of the cafe using their bench, yes we saw a sign but were literally perched on the end, within minutes a lady parked up beside us and asked to eat elsewhere, she pointed out there is a sign and to go elsewhere again.we moved on....MY point is they are happy to take your money in the day £25 almost for 2, Have spare benches that are not being used due to being closed in the evening, there is a way to ask people, especially if not knowing the circumstances...a terse tone and smirk isn't needed....I also think they are missing a trick, the chip shop obviously needs extra seating on evening would be good business idea and partnership to offer your seating to them for a small fee??? Work together and make your customers happy....just...
Read moreDidnt find staff to be that hospitable and giving wrong advice over face masks having to be worn as you enter to sit down to dine in. Was ignored for first 5mins while waiting patiently to be seated then even longer over mask issue. Uncomfortable atmosphere in the establishment. Food was average and overpriced, disappointed with attitude over being told we wasnt allowed to order lunch sandwiches as they had over run breakfast menu time. Undercooked scone and greasy egg and chips with the ham. If it wasnt for us all being hungry with not much choice to eat in town I definitely would of walked away at the door. Bit of advice to all proprietors of eateries if you wanna be over zealous and enforce the mask issue then have some disposable ones available for clientele that might have forgotten to bring one with them so early into the new rules. Wouldnt return again even if malnourished...
Read moreFirst, the positive: the place is clean and the staff helpful and friendly. I don't often give reviews lower than 4 stars, but 2 things pushed me over the edge this time. Burger priced at £11 on specials menu was of poor quality....frozen chips and a greasy gristley burger on a soggy bun. The beer I chose to accompany it was a 500ml bottle of local beer....PRICED AT £6.50!!!!!! Wow!! If this is not exploitation of a captive public, then I don't know what is. Lovely area, lovely holiday but this was by far the most overpriced place I have eaten in for a long, long time. Also, please bear in mind this cafe doesn't have a premium location.....it's not beach front or in any position which could possibly even partially excuse...
