I haven't ever really had Korean food except what I've cooked myself, some Kkanpoong Tofu. I have seen this place and I chose it over somewhere I knew I liked, because I wanted to give it a try. I come in and am not warmly welcomed but I don't mind much, the lady kindly explained the dishes for me and how it works. I ordered the Bibimbap with crispy tofu. I was excited and got eating, and it wasn't bad, but it wasn't good.
The tofu was getting stale and tasted like it had been fried a long time ago. For basically £10 can't you fry some tofu fresh? Everything else in the bowl was good fresh vegetables and good rice, but no flavour. No salt, no pepper, no spices, no nothing. The only taste was the hot and vinegary sauce, no sweetness, just heat and acidity, that was the only flavour in the whole dish. It didn't even have the garlic and slight sweetness that sriracha has, it was boring compared to sriracha even. I don't get it. I am no expert on Korean food like I said, but the tofu dish I cooked I loved so much, and this was so so so disappointing. It needs something other than plain rice, plain vegetable, plain fried tofu, and then one bland sauce on top. Seasoning? Any other flavours? Cook the tofu in a sticky sweet sauce maybe? Cook the veg with some garlic and some onion? Some peanut butter? Some crushed nuts or toasted seeds on top? This was all missing. Very lacking unfortunately. Just not much to it, especially for £10. Yes I ate most of it because like I say it wasn't offensive, and I was hungry and I'd spent £10 and I don't know what it's supposed to be like so I'm not going to go and complain or ask to change it.
There needs to be more to it, some flavour, just something. I really wanted to love it, I was excited, but felt empty afterwards as the food was so void of literally ANY flavour. Just a boring spicy sauce was...
Read moreWOW I've been excited to eat here since it opened.and have done a few times now and every time we go to the bap it's perfect lovely clean place, really friendly helpful staff and above all great food. okay the menu is small but that's not a criticism I would rather a few dishes done well than loads of dishes below par. This is as good as it gets outside of korea In my opinion real honest korean soul food done well I recommend the spicy pork on top of a bibimbap mix it really well with chop sticks then eat with a spoon as to get everything in each bite fantastic also get the fresh kimchi it's good. One request to the owner if I may some tea would be nice South Korea has some fantastic teas! Some tea would be perfect with my food. Amazing place Keep it up and I hope and wish for...
Read moreDelicious food! The portion you get for the bap combo is decent and very filling. One meal is enough for one but, you cannot miss that juicy crispy chicken dumplings. 🥟 The ‘Kang jung- Fried chicken with sweet and sour sauce’ was the best I have had till date, however, I liked the ‘KFC-korean fried chicken’ more.😊 The bap combo might be a bit tricky to mix though. The udon noodle in ‘Man du guk su’ was perfectly cooked and chewy, the way I like, and it’s soup was flavourful yet mild. I went there for the first time, and I am very impressed with the food they serve. 💯I surely recommend this place to anybody who wants to try out...
