Fantastic location in a beautiful little village just over a mile from Kielder Water in Northumberland. Two of us were staying overnight with our dog. We were met with a very friendly welcome and taken to our room which although not the largest, was adequate for two adults and a dog for a short stay, the en suite bathroom was a good size. Our rooms were nicely furnished and spotlessly clean. Going downstairs to the bar, they had a good selection of beer, wine & spirits, including a couple of local ales from the First & Last Brewery nearby which were excellent! The choice of food was what you’d expect from a traditional British pub which, when done well and cooked to order as it is here is very good. The portions are very generous. Service was very friendly and efficient. They did the best steamed ginger pudding I’ve ever had. The following morning we both had the full English breakfast which was very large, cooked to order and included the best bacon I’ve had in quite a while. They are very dog friendly too.

Katie was serving when we came in with an issue getting into a local cottage we'd booked. She knew the owners & helped us out. Pool table kept the older kids happy while she helped & the locals were very polite & understanding about a loud 2yr old! Great for a good pint after a long walk too. Also one of the kids left a Samsung s22 on the table & when we called in the next day the owner pulled it from behind the bar. This alone tells you all you need to know about the people who frequent the place! Quite an unusual name mind! šŸ˜‚ as you can imagine this didn't escape the notice of the 12yr old lad. Anyway, great pub & pint in a beautiful place, what else do you want?

Had a lovely meal on New Year's Eve Eve and a number of drinks too. Katie couldn't have been more welcoming and, as a dog friendly pub, it was a pleasure to be able to sit, chat and let our Rottie be spoiled by the locals. No food on New Year's Eve but great beer on offer together with a very friendly welcome. Again, very welcoming locals who enjoyed the dog being there too. It's New Year's day, the pub is packed. We chose not to intrude but the well wishes of 'Happy New Year' from the locals outside is a great indication of the pub, it's management team and the village in general!

I came across the Blackcock Inn when booking an experience at Kielder Observatory - we were holidaying up in the Borders but wanted somewhere closer for a night. Change of plan meant we then booked 2 nights, all the time liaising with Katie through email about our booking. She was incredibly helpful answering any questions I had.||We arrived for check in at 4pm. The pub is easy enough to find from the main road and parking is just by the side of the pub facing the road. Katie checked us in and showed us to our room, which is gorgeous. Love the quaintness of the decoration and the shower gels/soaps in the bathroom. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was lovely and warm. Plenty of tea and coffee bits to keep my husband happy!||Food was fabulous, so much so we ate dinner at the pub both days. Breakfast was also great; plenty of choice and the hot food was freshly cooked. I can highly recommend the Nachos starter!||We had keys to come and go as we please which was helpful for our Kielder Observatory event. You can hear noise from the pub but we understood this and it didn’t disturb us when resting in the evenings. It is clear that the inn is popular with locals and visitors alike which is always a great sign!||Honestly we have loved our stay so much and we are considering coming back to explore the National Park. All the staff are very friendly and genuinely cannot do enough for you. We had a bad experience at a different inn which had put us off staying at pub inns but the Blackcock Inn has totally changed our opinion. I was slightly under the weather on our second day so we spent a lot of time at the inn and we believe it is absolutely worth the price we paid for the room.||Highly recommend the Blackcock Inn, particularly the Peacock room. We...

A very hit and miss experience which was only disappointing due to the menu. We'd cycled from Durham to stay overnight at Falstone. The three of us booked the family room, consisting of a double, bunk and single bed with ensuite bathroom, more than suitable to our requirements. We had browsed the evening meal menu provided and made our choices before heading down to the bar to order. On ordering it turned out only the evening board could be ordered from, which left the vegetarian in the group one option only, a Margherita pizza which was far from ideal. When the food was brought to the table there was a mix up with the order with the vegetarian given a pepperoni pizza. Luckily the error was spotted before he tucked in. Was not happy to say the least. Breakfast was okay, although again some of the items on the room menu had been removed when we went down to eat which was disappointing. A real shame as the two girls who served us, especially the young lass who made the breakfasts was very easy to talk too and had some good banter with us. Seems like a decent place overall, just beware of your menu...
