1st time here, had been recommended by a few friends, a nice enough looking place from the outside Art-deco design which is nice to see these days. The staff are pleasant. We both had a regular carvery, the portion of meat we got was good as was the selection of veggies the Yorkshire pudding was small but nice, will definitely come again to try other food & definitely for a breakfast which looks like a bargain to me. 2nd visit for a breakfast 01/03/25 & upgraded to 5 stars, my breakfast was very nice & all cooked & set out perfect, can't tell you enough how polite & easy to talk to the staff we met (landlord & landlady possibly?) I was well fed by the time we left, correct me if I'm wrong but I believe this nice buffet breakfast for as little as £6.50 if you don't want a drink & me being from the north we'll that's a bargain, it's a great price with a drink also especially as the food is of good quality. You will see us here again in the near future I'm sure.

I would not recommend using this pub at all for food... I av just ordered a carvery for myself and kids 1 of which is type 1 diabetic and had took her insulin.... basically the food turned up my daughters came with no potatoes no veg nothing apart from meat and Yorkshire pudding and a burnt sausage... others were cold lumpy mash dried up roast potatoes and manky veg... I rung manager to explain I wasn't happy and basically told there is nothing he can do... I am a single mum and av just used my last bit of money ordering this food which I use lightly and don't get nothing else till tomoz so now I'm left with no money and no way of feeding my kids I explained this to be told again nothing he can do... I explained my daughter is diabetic and needs food or she will drop into a diabetic coma again to be told nothing he can do... how disgusting and I will be taking matters further

Very very disappointed. Taking out a disability group of over 30 people and have done multiple times. Hearing one of the staff saying "You put all the bloody staff on in the morning and there's F all staff tonight" NOT GOOD!! People with diabetes going hungry so carvery paying people sharing their food. Carvery assistant had to go into the back kitchen for someone to explain what a meat free carvery was!! ( Poor man how embarrassing for him) We have at least 3 of these events a year... I don't think we will be going back again it was absolutely dreadful and they all still had to pay.

When we arrived they didn't know we had a booking, we were told to find out own seat which was fine. I ordered on the app. From where we were sat I could see the kitchen, there were 2 tables near us who were already eating food and I noticed a chef plating up some food in the distance so I asked my partner if they wanted to get their food as they had ordered the carvery whereas I hadn't, I ordered a calzone. 30 minutes after we ordered, a staff member approached us saying they had ran out of pizza dough and couldn't make my food. Why had this taken 30 minutes to find out? She claimed that the pub was extremely busy, however looking around this did not seem the case, and 30 minutes to just start looking at my food is ridiculous. I then had to choose a different meal and went with a burger. The staff member said she would get us a round of drinks as apologies, and that she'd come back later as we were still half way through our current drinks, desserts would have been better. My burger finally arrived and it was sub par, felt thrown together and lazy, it was also delivered by a chef and not a staff member which was strange. We sat there for a while and the staff member did not return offering us the drinks and we needed to get...

I haven't been to the Blue Peter for a while, because there had been a number of occasions where I thought the carvery was bland and tasteless. But today we booked a table of 16 for our Nans anniversary. Honestly wasn't disappointed at all. Our of 16 of us, 9 had carveries and the other 7 had pizza and kids menu choices. The chef today was Julie and she was working by herself. All the food was sent out at the same time, beautifully cooked, brilliant temperature and then served the rest of us at the carvery station quickly so we could all sit and eat together. She did absolutely amazing to feed.us all within half an hour of placing our orders and nothing was too much of a bother for her. The carvery itself was beautiful. The veg was cooked well, not soggy, gravy was nice and thick, meat was tender and roasties were crispy. The pizzas looked amazing too. Only downside was it was cold inside and I sat with my coat on. And there was no beef but I can't complain really we all left with full tummys and not one...

UPDATE:- Of all the things I mentioned was wrong with this the only part manager commented on was the excuse for no salad bar, what about no condiments and poorly cooked food! I have been back on 24/6/17 and it was better ,still a few problems with the cooking but the rest much improved. increased star rating. I filled in their "spill the beans" review after dining there on Saturday. Said I would be willing to talk to someone about the poor experience but no one has been in touch, and after reading similar reviews from months ago can only surmise they don't care. The whole meal was a disappointment dried out meat (what you got) vegetables very under cooked verging on raw. The only condiments out were apple sauce tomato and brown sauce. No horseradish, cranberry or tartar. Oh and the advertised salad bar was not in use all pans clean and empty, how they would have been able to make a pizza if asked I don't know as there was no toppings which are taken from the salad bar also. Would have put no stars but it...
