Was driving back from the coast kinda up one road n down another. Came across this 13th century pub. What a find! The pub is unique and quite close to a popular walk(Hawkers shed) which I'll cover in another review. First of all their location in the soft rolling hills of Cornwall. On a clear day you can view the sea as your sitting outside in their gardens. There are numerous tables outside, easily accessible for all, some covered, mostly not. The views are magnificent. We went in and collected some drinks and returned outside as we had a dry sunny day. I noticed whlchair access and found the toilets very clean. Dogs are definitely allowed and noted water bowls down for them. There are different areas of this pub. Some are ancient some fairly new. You are spoiled for choice. The food was typical pub fayre and served in the Cornwall traditional way. There was substantial parking. No having to squeeze in here. There is a main dining room with large glass windows which look across to the sea. We were very impressed. Noted as well there are music events and dancing on various nites. A well deserved 5. What a find out in the country. The road past their place deadends at a Cornish tea house just another 400m. There is a walk to the coast where an ancient church is situated. The Rev Hawker served there and his coastal shed, built from timber salvaged from wrecked ships is a short walk across the fields. A good day out with a pint at this pub afterwards. I'll review the walk...

Unfortunately, our experience of The Bush did not mirror many of the reviews on here and our experience sadly ruined what should have been an enjoyable celebration and visit. Once you find it (it is a bit of a trek even by Devon country roads standard but we thought it would be worth it), the pub itself is a quaint with a nice mix of its 13th century heritage and modern restaurant extension. All was ok until we received our food. My chicken flatbread was fine, my wife's lasagne however was awful, burnt black on top and could not be prised open with a fork or knife. In hindight we should have sent it back. Along with lukewarm chips. And the lukewarm sticky toffee pudding to follow. The waiting team were friendly enough albeit perhaps a bit too attentive as it felt they were standing over you and listening to your conversations at times with us being seated by the till. To top things off, a fly took to my wife's wine which was replaced with a half-glass replacement (fair enough), but then we were charged for a soft drink which we didn't have! This we only noticed once we paid and gone as we just wanted to get out and away, it really did spoil what should of been a nice celebratory occasion So burnt food - and charged for it, moderately warm food and overcharged drinks. Needless to say we do not intend to go back, and I would urge caution to others if unsure (certainly check what you are...

The owner of the place where my wife & I have been staying in Woolley, recommended The Bush Inn to us for food.

We went along last night (3.10.24) to try it out and we are so glad we did.

The staff were friendly and very welcoming. The old inn bar area was rustic and full of charm.

We sat in the restaurant for our meal and the views as the night skies were drawing in over the sea were amazing. We just wished we'd turned up as the sun was setting although we did view the sunset from duck pool cliffs before hand.

Anyhoo, the food we had was lovely. We had the baked camembert to share for starter. It was baked brilliantly, it was oozing so much that all we had to do was dip our warm bread in and it was delightful. Proper enjoyable, messy finger licking good.

Mains: my wife had the Thai Red Veg curry and I had the Scampi & Chips. Both dishes cooked well and presented well.

Wine & beer was also top draw.

Our waitress for the evening was great fun. Very helpful in advising my wife on Gluten Free food. She had a great personality too. Apologies for not remembering her name but she was the lass with a trendy hair style (short one side, long the other and tattoo on her arm. She also had a cheeky cute smile thrown in for good measure ๐Ÿ˜Š

We highly recommend The Bush Inn for food and drinks.

We will definitely return when we are next in...

This is another great find. The pub is cosy but also spacious, you'd have to visit to understand this ๐Ÿ˜… The location is picturesque and plenty of space inside and out to eat and drink. The food is very good quality, pub favourites and a variety of dishes. Allergies are catered which is good, the menu is a little on the expensive side, but you get what you pay for. Dogs are allowed in the pub which is great news and water is served to those needing a refresher after a walk. Definitely worth a visit here for a relaxing meal and drink. Male toilets are across the courtyard and are just about ok, the ladies was apparently good. But don't let that detract from the over quality of the venue, we thoroughly enjoyed our time there and the staff were friendly and on hand to assist. A great pub in a beautiful location and some good walking to be had nearby. ๐Ÿ‘
