The Comet — Restaurant in England

Brought our friends from Newcastle here for a meal on Fri 14th Sept, when we arrived we were told it was fully booked, so we asked if it was ok for us to just have a drink, the landlady was very nice and welcomed us in, it has a very pleasant atmosphere when you first go in, the landlady came over to us 10 minutes later and said she had found us a table, we were very grateful. My friend and I had the Rib Eye steaks and the wife’s had the Lasagna, steaks were cooked to perfections and the lasagnas were beautiful, the service was excellent especially from Faye the waitress who couldn’t do enough for us. Excellent home cooked food, including proper home made chips. Service good, with friendly staff. There are two areas, ones like a farmhouse living room, individuals chairs and open fire, the other like a farmhouse dining room, again with an open fire.

Food appears locally sourced, the only downside is if you're a veggie, Egg & Chips was the only option on the menu.

They have a good selection of real ales........its the sort of pub, that if you went for a beer, would end up having...

5* Sunday lunch, was asked if we had enough of everything, Asked for extra veg and this was provided. Good choice of meats. Great selection of starters and sweets! Staff are all lovely and nothing was too much trouble. The only downsides are that regulars book week after week and sometimes it's difficult to get a table, which speaks for it's self really!
