Had a pleasant 2 hours there on 29th June 2019 ; watching the coast to coast cycle race pass by whilst eating lunch on an outside table. Very cosy old style local pub; nice in the winter with a fire blazing. This was a hot 26C day outside though. Ordered from the sandwich collection ; chicken breast with sweet chilli, and tuna with sweetcorn, both accompanied by chips and salad. Finish serving meals at 2pm until the night. Friendly owner and staff; very pleasant. Not a crumb left on either plate; really nice. Varied menu but everything not always available on a given day. Nicely prepared.

Dog friendly! We had two battered cods, one scampi and a cold roast ham. It was all lovely! Especially the homemade onion pickle, which combined beautifully with the ham. The batter on the fish was lovely and crispy, while the cod was light and moist on the inside. Might have to come back and try the pickled egg in a packet of crisps (now homemade)...

A warm welcome in this busy dog friendly Inn this Sunday lunchtime. Good pint of Gamekeeper. The Sunday roast, a beef & a pork, were delicious and wholesome. Followed by an apple crumble & a jam bakewell, both with custard, no frippery, just good solid Yorkshire dining. Clean and tidy establishment, friendly clientele. Good value and recommended.

The Crown inn is definitely worth a visit if you’re in Askrigg Louise and Jim are great hosts. It’s a traditional village pub with great atmosphere, friendly locals and it’s dog friendly too. Food is traditional fayre simple and delicious, Cold roast ham salad is a particular favourite of mine comes with loads of butchers ham, nice salad, coleslaw, two traditional pickles and chips and very reasonable price too. Puddings are homemade too the Biscoff Cheesecake was delicious. Lots of good local ale on tap and cider too, service is swift, staff are friendly and attentive, we’ll be calling in again...

Stopped off here on the off chance as we didn't want to cook on our last night - a Friday.

Really glad we did!

Was expecting to wait for a table as they were busy, but managed to get sat straight away!

Lovely pub, friendly locals and staff and the food was fantastic - home made, tasty and value for money too!

They are dog and child friendly and cater for smaller appetites too - useful, as pregnant daughter can't manage full meals just now...

Can highly recommend the steak pie, giant Yorkshire and beef casserole! Delicious!!

Will definitely be coming back on our next visit...
