The premises and beer garden look great had a really good pint of cider in there but sadly due to booking issues and the most rude unqualified staff i didn't eat there . We tried for three days to book extra places at our table via a land line but no one picked up the phone .so we left a voice mail still no reply . We turned up and we were greeted eventually by a short mature stocky lady who greeted us like we had just robbed her . She then begrudgingly took us to our table we then sat at 3 tables . We were then told in a poor manner that we were not allowed to sit at the 3rd table as it was already pre booked. There was no compromise or or help with this lady so sadly 5 people including myself were unable to order food due to lack of room and compromise. So half our party left to go to a different restaurant with qualified staff. The couple of people who did eat at the restaurant did say the food was great . We did ask for condiments for the kids that were in the party and we got a bottle of red sauce slammed on the table. The worst thing was that no persons actually appeared to sit at this table , so not only did they ruin are family get together they also lost revenue from a party of five which would have been food and drink .This premises has great potential but sadly due to poorly trained front of house staff we...

My partner and I decided to visit this pub after he had researched the reviews and all seemed to be quite high rating. Being new to the area we were unaware of local eateries. The waiter was pleasant and was very rushed off his feet. We ordered our meal in anticipation of them being 4 star or higher rating! My partner is a vegetarian and decided to opt for the veggie fajitas. The filling was extremely hot and whilst in the middle of eating his meal he started to choke! Concerned I asked what was wrong and he spluttered that he had just swallowed a lemon!!! Of which obviously does not belong in the main dish. To add insult to injury....My meal was ham and eggs, I could not eat half of the ham as the meat was dark and stale. When asked by the waitress who collected the half full dish if I had enjoyed the meal. I stated that I hadn't due to the ham and that it tasted off. She said it was fresh today! I repeated that it was definitely not. She mumbled something about taking it off. I presume the menu! We went to the bar to pay for the meal and was asked again about the meal. Again I mentioned the state of the ham and was ignored!! The meal came to £25. A costly price for inadequate food!!! Would not recommend...

I went here yesterday with three friends for the first time. My friends had said the food was amazing and felt home cooked. I’m vegan, so I’d checked the menu in advance and although there wasn’t much choice for a vegan/vegetarian, I’d found a veggie burger that I’d get. However, when I got there, I was only allowed to order off a Sunday menu which didn’t have the veggie burger - the only two options were a beetroot curry (which is not something I’d ever choose to eat) or a roast dinner with a vegetable wellington (again, didn’t sound appealing and for Ā£16, I didn’t want to take the risk). I asked the waitress if the veggie wellington was nice and she just shrugged, so I assume she hadnt tried it. Usually I’d expect a nutroast option or more veggie options across the menu. I ended up just ordering a bowl of chips whilst my friends tucked into their massive portions of food that looked great. Sadly, I wouldn’t return because of the lack of veggie options on the menu :( I was surprised they at least wouldn’t let me order the veggie burger I’d...

The indoor and outdoor setting is really nice my partner and I have spent a few afternoons here the Sunday roast is second to none seems to have upped its game potions are more than enough since the last time we visited the beef is to die for my partner had the 3 meat roast table service once you are seated at your table is pleasant staff are attentive , drinks aren’t cheap but we can forgive that , the vibe on the deco brings old to new , we really enjoy visiting Thank you too all šŸ‘Œ Edit… As always we visit regularly had pizza Ā£16 had to send it back as undercooked still came back as dry as , Ā£26 for the steak which couldn’t fault but serving the dregs of the frozen bag of chips isn’t acceptable as shown in the picture …….. disappointed guys as we know you can do way better

Decided didn't want to cook and hadn't been The Crown for ages so rang up as a speculative for a table last minute, it was a very well spent last minute. Son ordered the Nachos with Chilli for starters, very generous portion and made up that he didn't want to spoil his main šŸ˜‹. The Chicken Balti from the chef's special menu was perfect, literally could have been sat in an Indian restaurant!!! Large portion, lots of big chicken pieces came with all the trimmings too, also had the chicken and mushroom pasta, again generous portion loads of chicken and full of flavour. All in all really nice meal in relaxed surroundings, considering the times we are in the team at The Crown are doing a great job. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Met up with schoolfriends for catch up on a Sunday. Friends both had Sunday roast which was spectacular and HUGE i opted for Steak and Ale pie which was also huge but have to say congratulations to the chef. Chips were lovely but the pie was superb. I would go again as although meals were each £15 approx before drinks the portions and the quick, attentive service made it worth that bit extra. Would recommend for those with big appetites especially :) well done Crown
