Looked like a lovely place as we attended a birthday party. Food was pre-ordered 7 days in advance and it seemed like most of the food was prepared 7 days in advance🤢 To be fair the starter chicken and ham hock was ok. The main dinner was a different story, ordered half roast chicken, Yorkshire pudding was very well done and the roast potatoes was very very tough, I could not cut the potato šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø it was that tough. The dessert I ordered was the panna cotta and it’s the first one I’ve had that I’ve had to lift off the dried top to get to the middle and the tinned peach slice topping was sour. Definitely well out of date dessert, food like this should never have been served. Hope this helps others and maybe the restaurant itself to check the product coming out. Didn’t complain because we were never asked if the food was any good. Shame 😳 Thank you for the response, as a multiple restaurant owner and a trained chef, I understand problems faced within the kitchen to have a complete control is not possible. The review is to highlight a problem you have with whom ever serves the vegetables and the desserts. Best of luck

Amazing pub. Came here as we couldn't get in another pub with children and a dog in the same party. Lovely food, didn't have much on the menu that we wanted but still good food when it came. Ice cream for the child in the party 🄳 and dog treats and toys on offer with a little monetary gift. Lovely atmosphere Will definitely be going back when it's warmer so we can sit outside. X

The Culcheth arms hosted my mother and father-in-laws golden anniversary, and they left this message "Thanks to Jenn, Charlotte and all staff - very professional. Lovely venue. Thanks to the Chef for lovely hot, fresh food. Couldn't fault anything. Made our anniversary celebration a wonderful night"

Decided to venture down the road for a night local date night, started off well. when checking in, we found there was a 40 min wait for food which wasn’t too bad so happily sat down. despite being lots of empty tables we were squished between two full tables on either side of us. hardly enough room to breathe, made the pair of us feel anxious knowing that both tables can listen in on our conversations and were very conscious that one person sat on the table next to us kept staring at us, kinda ruined the atmosphere.

we ordered a cheesy flatbread which came quickly and the half with the cheese was absolutely gorgeous, however the half of it was just burnt bread. after this, we were sat waiting an extra 50 mins for our mains, sat with empty glasses too. no waitress came near for us to even ask if we want another drink so we went to the bar. waitresses seemed to just be gabbing with each other or the regulars. we clearly had a member of staff sat next to us as one of the waitresses, i want to say a head waitress or even manager, came over and slagged one of the other members of staff off, also stating the toilets hadn’t been cleaned one night.

speaking of which, i went in the ladies and they were absolutely disgusting, no toilet roll in two of the three and the third had a lovely log left in it - fair enough not the staffs fault but still.

when our food came, the portions were ridiculously small. we had a burger that came with about ten undercooked chips and a cold sunday dinner with a drizzle of gravy on it, charging for extra. after waiting over 50 mins for food, i’d at least want it hot. portions other than gravy were okay, wouldn’t phone home about it though and the lack of gravy made it extremely dry.

no waitress came over to check if it was okay, asked if we wanted another drink, or even came near for us to ask any questions. awful service considering there was about 6 tables in.

we ate it as we were starving, and when we finally got the attention of someone for the bill - they add an optional service fee. usually, this is something you can select on a card reader yourself, however the waitress basically guilt tripped you into paying it even though they didn’t help us at all. it’s an awkward situation to put someone in, and not fair when staff don’t deserve the tip. i’m someone more than happy to pay a tip if i’m happy with the service, however this time i really wasn’t and nobody asked me the whole time.

considering it’s a small local pub, you’d expect the staff to know to be happy and friendly, meet customer service levels and instead of being rude. you’d expect it from a big chain maybe, certainly not this. would not recommend, would not go again, wouldn’t...

Visited with my mum and when we arrived they were only serving the Sunday menu (not available on website) which had significantly less vegan options. We were told that they couldn’t serve us the regular menu and they could do quorn sausage and mash but the mash was pre made with butter in. So we ordered the falafel burger to share (only option) thinking they couldn’t really mess that up but we were very wrong. The burger was bland and served on a stale bun that wasn’t big enough. No sauce/relish - we had to ask and were given some vegan Mayo. The ā€˜side salad’ was some lettuce and pepper with no dressing. The 8 chips we were given (yes I counted) were poorly cooked, not crispy and a little bit hard in the middle. Genuinely the worst meal I’ve had in a while. Really really disappointing that in 2022 this is the best they can offer vegans. For reference, the McPlant from McDonald’s is better and half the price. I don’t think we will be returning.

Edit: The issue was not with pre booking, I have no idea why this was brought up. The issue was with the menu online not being the correct one - there was no mention of the Sunday menu on the website. There was barely anybody in the pub either so I do not think prebooking would have made any difference whatsoever. Sadly just a very...
