Good location to have food however the food is limited to the number of tables booked in advance for some reason therefore they only serve food until a certain time unlike the pub next door (Crown&Rose) which serves food for longer hours in the day apparently. There isn't anything healthy to eat as a snack either (Only have crisps and nuts) and apparently they do serve "desert" all hours which was offered to us as after a while we sat down since we seemed to have missed the lunch hour. I, as a vegetarian,I wouldn't have mind to be offered a salad which doesn't need to be "cooked" but "oddly" they seem to have run out of all the food supply (!) as they stated so therefore we were only offered drinks however ordering only drinks didn't seemed enough to order by the reaction we have got as it didn't feel very welcoming despite being a large group with children. Especially when I ordered a non-alcoholic drink as the designated driver...Nevertheless, we "managed" to get a table which was our aim and caught our breath after a busy day in Ascot visiting sites etc. If you are a visiting tourist, beware of the stares by locals as well as members of staff. Despite all, it was an "eye opening" experience. I would not go back for...
Read moreI don't like to post negative reviews, I usually just chalk it up to experience and move on. However, occasionally I feel I should. Took my parents to lunch here for my mums 70th, 7 of us. On arrival, nice welcome, service prompt and some of the food was nice. My dads medium steak was rare so politely asked for it to be grilled a bit more, Not a problem, it happens. My mums gammon was tough as old boots, but rather than cause a fuss she mentioned it at the end. One of the waitresses was very sweet and apologetic. However a different young blonde waitress seemed to take an instant dislike after that and I felt rather uncomfortable with her behaviour. Crossing of arms, glaring at my mum. I felt uncomfortable and furious, this continued on paying the bill, while she glared and huffed and puffed with her arms crossed as the card machine didn't work the first time she was heavy sighing at my dad, tapping furiously at the machine with her long nails. l couldn't believe the looks she was giving my mum. Thankfully my parents were completely oblivious to this but I wasn't, and for that reason especially I won't...
Read moreI took my mother to this pub recently and we both agreed it was great. When I asked about accessibility the person on the phone was very helpful and offered to reserve a convenient parking space. The pub itself is very nice inside, well presented and has a good ambience. The service was first class, friendly and attentive without ever being intrusive. The menu featured several tempting offerings; we both settled for sea bass, which was perfectly cooked. If I want to be picky the broccoli & cauli were a bit on the soft side for me, but that's personal preference and it didn't spoil my enjoyment. And then the big test....the syrup sponge with custard. Would there be a proper amount of custard or just a tiny little poxy pot on the side? I'm happy to report that this was a slam dunk, and I found myself eagerly facing a sponge island in the middle of a sea of...
