I have been popping in and out now for the last 3 weeks for a few drinks and last night a group of friends including myself decided to take the plunge and try the food. Wow wow wow, what an experience. I had the chicken burger as with any food establishment I believe if they cant good a good burger right, then the rest is not good enough for the table. This was an experience i wish anyone to go and have a try. My Chicken burger was clearly homemade succulent, melt in the mouth food and is fully worth a steaper price of 13.95, The Burnt Butter sauce was just the icing on the cake for me. My friends had a mixture of the Menu, a Rib eye steak - well worth the 27.95 asking price, 1/2 Chicken served with Truffle mash and mushrooms, a Beef Burger and a pizza. 6 meals in total all worth the asking price and all equally amazing. The owners are particularly lovely, welcoming, professional, polite and courtious. The staff in General are amazing and everybody smiles which is something most pubs and resturants dont do enough of anymore! Shout out to Brad and Lauren on the bar great team, great banter and great service! Its an experience that I will be going back for! Well worth the visit. When you view the menu the prices look steep but dont let this fool you, unlike most pubs in the area once you taste the quality of the food being produced in that kitchen the price simply just wont matter anymore. Beer prices are a tad higher than the average which hopefully might come down a peg or two but there is a fantastic range of beverages from Fine Wines to full range of beers on tap with Neck Oil being a particular favourite of mine.

I have only one recomendation, loose the paper base under the burger, it looks good but isnt great to eat off!

Give it a go, I wish i hadnt waited this long for the food and its only been open 3 weeks!

Cheers guys, I will be back...

Booked to go here yesterday as a group of 6 when I booked I said I wanted the table for 5-6 hours. I sat at the bar for 10 minutes before even being asked if I wanted a drink. When we were seated the waitress told us we could have our table until 6.30pm which was perfect. We finished our food around 4.45pm and the (who I think was the manager) took our plates and asked if we wanted puddings (we hadn’t even had chance to look at the menu) we said we would have a look but possibly just more drinks. He said we need the table so we need you to move to the outside area (not the pretty area because that’s where we were it was in the back garden) We was not prepared to sit in the cold when we were told that the table was ours until 6:30! We got moved inside where we did then order desserts these took nearly an hour to come so they were told to cancel them there’s no way it takes that long to put some cake on a plate especially when it wasn’t even busy! I went back to check on the table we were asked to move from at 5:30 and then again at 6:30 and there was no one sat at our table. There was also plenty of empty tables. Food is nice but over priced. The only good thing about this place is the lovely waitress that helped us. Our bill was over £200 and would of been a lot more if we had of been left where we was and were happy having a good time the drinks were flowing but after the rudeness and being made to move for no reason annoyed us all and we thought forget we’re not spending anymore...

This is the second time that we've been to the newly refurbished George in Kilsby and again we were very impressed.

Having grown up in the village (and working there for five years as a waitress/bar staff back when I was a student!) I've seen several 'eras' of The George. It's now a thriving restaurant and it's great to see it in such good hands.

It has been totally refreshed and updated into a modern and stylish restaurant but still with a warm and comfortable vibe. On both visits it was very busy but we didn't feel at all rushed and the staff were so friendly.

The food was excellent. Today I had the roast beef which was beautiful - very tender meat and a good portion with the roasted veg, roast potatoes etc. One of the best roasts I've had recently. A little on the expensive side but it was for a special occasion. We also had desserts which again were pricey but very nice.

My sister has multiple dietary restrictions for which they were more than happy to cater and she was presented with a generous portion, all cooked from scratch, that met her needs perfectly. The waiter listened carefully to her requests and confirmed after speaking to the chef too - a great level of attentiveness.

The service during today's busy Sunday lunch was a bit slow but as mentioned it was packed and it gave us time to chat and relax so we didn't mind. All staff were extremely friendly and helpful throughout.

Overall a very nice meal and we would definitely visit again. Perfect for a special...

Avoid at All Costs: A Horrendous Experience of Neglect and Mediocrity My recent encounter with the George was nothing short of a nightmare, a tale of abysmal service and repulsive cuisine. Despite having made a reservation, the staff seemed utterly clueless upon my arrival. I was forced to repeat my booking name multiple times to indifferent employees who couldn't be bothered to assist properly. After enduring a tedious wait, I was begrudgingly directed to a table with all the warmth of a cold draft. And then, the food. Oh, the food! The calamari, if it can even be called that, was a sad excuse for seafood – frozen and of such dismal quality that I questioned its edibility. The kids' pizza was a pathetic attempt at portion control, simply slicing a frozen disc in half and presenting it as a meal fit for children. As for the main courses, the sea bass and pasta dishes were nothing short of insults to the culinary arts, evidently nuked in a microwave and served with a side of contempt. It's no wonder the restaurant sat nearly deserted; patrons wisely avoiding the catastrophe that awaited within. Spare yourself the agony and steer clear of this establishment. They possess neither the competence to deliver decent service nor the skill to prepare palatable meals. Save your time, money, and taste buds from this pit of incompetence and mediocrity.

We had not visited this pub/restaurant for several years and it has undergone a couple of refurbishments in that time. The latest incarnation is well worth a visit. We booked in advance, like you have to with most places today, but I think if we had been early enough we might have been able to walk in. The staff were welcoming, helpful and attentive. The menu was interesting and tempting. My wife had the braised teriyaki pork belly with miso glazed carrots, tender stem broccoli and spiced jus. I had Keralan tiger prawn and roasted cod and samphire butternut squash and basmati rice. Followed by creme brûlée and ice cream puddings. All the food was beautifully presented, well prepared and tasty. My only quibble was that with my meal for the price they could have been slightly more generous with the number of tiger prawns they included. Although there might have been a clue in the title of the dish. The drinks were OK I had a pint of rather weak IPA my wife enjoyed the Sauvignon blanc. Overall it was a lovely and memorable meal. The service was excellent and the food delicious. At £76 I felt it was a bit pricey but we are all struggling with the cost of food these days and the owners deserve make a living. We will be adding The George to our places to go on special occasions.
