Went in with my girlfriend, in June for a juice as we were out walking and it was boiling hot. Obviously looked around and thought, whow we will come back and have a meal. 15/08/2025. Went in to go have a meal, but ordered two drinks first. Double Southern Comfort and Lemonade and a Birra Moretti pint, drinks were served to us and we went to pay we were told £22.35, I Obviously asked if they made a mistake the girl behind the bar had an attitude of not ans said that's the price pay. We paid went and sat down, girlfriend had a sip of her drink Lemonade was flat, went back to the bar, asked please could you change this drink I think your gas is out on the Lemonade, was told if I poor you another one it will be the same, (by the same girl who had an attitude from the minute we asked for drinks,) to which I responded if you think I am paying £22 for two drinks and they are rubbish you can refund me my money, she then went to the back and some bloke (manager/owner) came out also had an attitude that stank, after a good few minutes of saying I do not accept this quality of a drink when I just paid £22, he poured a new drink and gave us a small plastic bottle of Lemonade. After this service, we definitely decided we would never be returning to this place. An absolute rip off. I have spoken to many a people about this and everyone is have spoken to says the prices are phenomenal and they have ALL waited over an hour for food to start being served or 1st course comes out then you wait hours for the next courses of food. Will definitely not be returning to this rip off
To reply to the comment back to my Negative review from the owner/ manager Oh really I was rude to your staff, and I was intoxicated and people were concerned about me?????????? Well that is very interesting indeed. 🤔 It took 5 minutes for you to come out the back room/office, because I refused to have a drink that was disgusting and the lemonade was flat. At £ 15.50 for a Southern Comfort and lemonade i think anyone has a right to say, they will not accept this.
Well having a look at the reviews you do seem to blame everyone else on anything negative that is commented. Just shows the true character of a person you really are. Once again a complete rip off and the managers attitude completely is disgusting. I will tell everyone I know about this experience and how disgusting it was. Yes your Southern Comfort is £7 for a single shot. I have never had this type disgusting service in all my life then to be blamed its my fault, the service was disgusting.... well thats a first... they do say you learn something new every day. I learned i will never return to the...
Read moreWe hired out The Greek Table in Newbury on a Friday night in May for my mum’s birthday party, and genuinely, we couldn’t have made a better choice. From the very first conversation, the team were incredibly welcoming and accommodating. They worked with us to plan a night that suited our needs, our budget, and our vibe — and what they delivered completely exceeded our expectations.
The venue itself is beautiful — cosy, atmospheric, and full of energy. It felt like we were transported straight to Greece for the evening. The staff were phenomenal — so friendly, so attentive, and genuinely invested in making sure everyone was having the best time. They went above and beyond to look after us and our guests.
The food was absolutely incredible — so flavourful, generous portions, beautifully presented, and served hot and fresh. Everyone was raving about it during the night, and we’ve had so many messages since from guests saying how amazing it was. People are still talking about the grilled meats, the dips, the desserts — everything was just top-notch.
One of the real highlights of the evening was the live entertainment, which we arranged through the venue. They usually have it as part of their Friday night experience, but we booked them specifically for the party — and honestly, it made the night. The music was fantastic, the atmosphere was electric, and it wasn’t long before everyone was up dancing. Young or old, it didn’t matter — people were on their feet, laughing, dancing, clapping along, and just having the time of their lives.
It was one of those rare evenings where everything just came together perfectly. The setting, the food, the music, the service — it was all incredible. Every single guest said how much fun they had, and more than one told us it was the best party they’d ever been to.
Whether you’re looking to privately hire a space for a special event, or you’re just looking for an unforgettable Friday night out with fantastic food and live entertainment, I cannot recommend The Greek Table highly enough. It’s warm, authentic, joyful, and run by people who truly care about what they do.
We will absolutely be going back, and I wouldn’t hesitate for a second to book again for future celebrations. A truly special place — phenomenal food, phenomenal people, and an absolutely...
Read moreI had heard good things from friends who had come on a Friday evening for Greek night, and looking at the menu I was excited to come and try it out. We love the Greek Islands, people and food, having been many times.
Maybe we were just unlucky and caught them during an “off” service.
For anyone dining with children, there is no children’s menu and no real accommodation made for younger guests. I asked for some cucumber for my son to start and was told “We don’t do that”. Yet every dish has an accompaniment of salad with plenty of cucumber. I do not have a fussy child and I don’t expect restaurants to do anything special for children, but I don’t think asking for a few slices of cucumber was that big of an inconvenience.
My starter (baked halloumi/feta) had some good flavours but was over baked and so I couldn’t eat the final third as it was rock hard.
There was no Moussaka, Baklava and (we later learned) several other missing menu items.
The chips were slathered in salt and I couldn’t eat my main due to the amount on my meat. The pork meatballs were awful. I have had meatballs many times on various Greek islands and in Greek restaurants in the UK and these tasted more like prawn toast. We left them.
Some of the other dishes got better feedback from our party so maybe we just didn’t order some of the right things. The stifado and king prawns were good according to others with us.
Then for dessert we were told they do not serve coffee and also had run out of vanilla ice cream. We swapped one order to 2 scoops of chocolate. When it arrived the waitress dumped a bowl on the table with a minuscule scoop of chocolate ice cream in. When we questioned her as to where the rest was, she replied they had now run out of chocolate!
The starter plates were not cleared even though it was obvious we were done with them, no new cutlery was given for the main (so we used what was left from the starter plates), no cutlery was brought for dessert until we asked for it.
The service really was quite a let down and it all seemed very flat. I’d like to say I’ll try it again, but I’m just not sure I will.
I would have emailed this feedback first, but the website doesn’t seem to list an...
