Came here for our dinner on Thurs evening after reading lots of good reviews. Sadly I can't say our experience matched up. Pie and mash, and fish and chips were ok; pizza and burger were awful.
Margarita pizza (listed on menu as "handmade" was clearly a pre-made base) had a sweet taste/smell to it? Burger bun was stale (as though frozen & defrosted in the microwave, then toasted to try and mask that fact) with a "plastic" cheese slice on, rather than the monteray jack cheese described on the menu. Like cheap Wetherspoons "pub grub" but without the prices to match.
Neither meal were eaten, so I explained politely why, and said that I was not willing to pay for them. The bartender (who was lovely but got flustered) said he was not able to authorise that, and would have to get the manager. He was unable to contact the manager, so the manager from their other pub (?) came over.
Her initial offer was to remove the pizza from the bill, and to remove 25% off the price of my burger, meaning it would be £12 rather than £16. Not acceptable when I'd had only 2 bites. Both meals were removed after me refusing the initial resolution, but I don't understand how it was even suggested in the first place, given the fact I was leaving still hungry with barely anything having been consumed. If no manager is going to be present on site, then the staff need to be given more jurisdiction on what they can do, in the event of a complaint. I dislike leaving bad reviews, but also feel others should be aware of the quality of food...
Read moreWould not recommend.. firstly before checking in I was impressed by the layout but after checking in the host showed me to the room, after standing in my room for 10 minutes picking my brain he walked out then 5 minutes later walked back in without even knocking which put me on edge for the rest of the stay. After waiting until 6pm I went down to the bar/restaurant to get some food the prawns where chewy and the steak was well done even though I asked for medium rare. Breakfast didn't start until 8am so after getting up and ready to get on with my day, they wasn't open so I went on without eating my prepaid breakfast. The final day after looking around the local town we came back starving from the lack of food as breakfast was missed, we came back to an empty bar with two locals helping themselves to only find out that the chef had gone home and the bar woman was "over the road". Learning from the error of our way we went down to breakfast at half past 8 and yet again the whole place was shut down there wasn't a light on in the whole complex. The staff are lacking, it seems like they just can't be bothered for example, the TV wasn't working and after we went to reception and ask what the problem may be and the woman's response was was to wiggle the wire. So three meals down, a TV the size of a A4 piece of paper and without seeing a soul we was not happy and would not be staying...
Read moreWent for a meal with my family yesterday and I have few pointers for improvement: Staff seemed to be rushed of their feet even though the place wasn’t busy, they couldn’t even say hello to us when we walked in. Actually our first interaction with the waitress was being scolded for touching the menu as 'she had disinfected them'. Maybe don’t keep disinfect items in reach of guests. Sat down and one second later the waitress asked us what we would like to drink. Obviously has no training in when to approach guests to take orders. Drink menus need to be given at the tables. When asking if it was possible to have a bacon sandwich I was first told no then yes then she would have to put through each item individually so it would be more expensive. Thanks. During our lunch the waitress proceeded to polish cutlery at the service station next to our table. Not the sound I presume guests would like to listen too. New staff sign in the window. Maybe sooner...
