We went for Sunday lunch today for my Grandad's birthday. The starters were alright, the Sunday dinners were bland and the vegetables were raw. But worst of all, the service was horrendous.

The first main came out 10 mins before the last. I asked for gravy initially when it started coming out, mainly because we had already waited longer than you'd expect for the drinks, starter and then taking the plates away. In response, a blonde female staff member abruptly stated she would bring it when the food came out. Okay, I can forgive that - maybe she's under pressure, no problem. The mains and the gravy were served, (at which point they were starting to get even colder because of the delay and given the food came out lukewarm at best). When she served the last main I asked the same blonde woman for some mint sauce if possible as my grandad wanted some. She very rude in response, saying "I've already told you, I'll bring it out when the food is out", giving me a hacky look after muttering ffs. I'm sorry but what was her issue? The food was all out, isn't that the typical time people ask for additional condiments? I asked her why she was being so rude as it didn't make sense to me. She then ignored me and asked everyone else if they'd like any condiments. It ruined the already pretty bad meal, and regardless no one checked how the food was and she gossiped in the corner very obviously.

I'm autistic and have adhd. I sometimes don't say things at the exact right second, or in the exact way people want, and I apologise if that was the case, but honestly I don't see anything wrong with what or how I asked. So for her (who I later found out is the manager) to be so rude and hostile because I've asked for some sauce and then go gossip in the corner while repeatedly staring at me is honestly vile, discriminatory and ableist. I'll never be coming here again and I recommend everyone else not to go either.

Way to make someone feel like crap just because they aren't able communicate in the exact way...

DISAPPOINTING AT BEST - Went for Sunday lunch today (21.1.2024) but we were left really disappointed. The meal arrived promptly but was mildly lukewarm at best. We did tell the staff but by that point it was to late (I guess our fault) but it really shouldn't have left the kitchen at that temperature - the chef should have known this and really should have checked how hot it was; perhaps environmental health would be interested in serving temperatures.

Nonetheless, despite telling them they didn't really seem to be too bothered. We ordered apple crumble for a sweet (one with custard and the other with cream) but both arrived with custard - by the time the cream arrived it was a little colder (so same again). In addition they served it with a white unripe strawberry which was obviously rock-hard and bitter - as unripe things tend to be.

I went to pay the bill and raised the matters with the manager but again another fairly (NOT BOTHERED) attitude towards the quality of the meal. Apparently, they serve all puddings with a strawberry for effect was the response but couldn't comprehend an unripe strawberry is bitter and hard and inedible!

It was also a little annoying that the lad behind the bar kept throwing bottles into a glass bin from a height - when people were trying to have a peaceful meal on a Sunday afternoon.

So overall - if the staff cant be bothered, then nor are we and we wont be going back. Honestly with this type of attitude I certainly wouldn't recommend anyone else to dine here either. My advice - Cherry Tree is just up the road if you don't drive, and if you do there are plenty on other places which serve HOT food in a peaceful and relaxed...

We did not stay at the Half Moon, however we have been for food on 2 occasions. First one was great, service was fantastic, food was excellent, so good we booked again, to be completely disappointed. Booked for quiz night, specifically booked a table at 7:30pm to allow us an hour to order our food and eat, prior to the quiz starting at 8:30pm. Food was ordered at 7:40, food was no where to be seen, we asked and they advised it would “still be a while as the kitchen was busy”, we then asked how long as if it was going to be ages, we would just cancel the order. A lovely member of staff came over and informed us it would only be 5 minutes and offered his apologies. All in all, the food arrived over 1 hour late, when the quiz had already started. We ordered the same as last time (as it was so great the first time), and it was not very nice, completely rushed and tasted like we had ordered something different on the menu, poor quality chicken, and felt like it had been put together quickly as we complained! We sent it back and was asked if we wanted anything else, to then be told the kitchen was closed. The food was taken off the bill, great, until we got to the till to pay, when the member of staff, laughed at us when we said we would not pay for the food had it of been on the receipt, when questioned on this, he said he was unaware of the issues we had. Totally understandable, however not one apology and 4 members of staff stood around him aware of the situation. It appears the kitchen cannot handle the food orders when it is busy. To add, it was “wing Wednesday” which we were hoping to try, to be told they had no wings.

All in all, a terrible...

The staff were very friendly, helpful and welcoming.I stayed with my husband for two nights on our fifth wedding anniversary. The room was nice, everything was clean, lovely shower and a TV,just across the car park from the pub. The bed was very comfortable and there was water, tea and coffee and bonus hot chocolate :D Bonus points for having a hairdryer in the drawer and mini fridge. Sadly no WiFi in the rooms but no big deal :) We met the owners as we were about to leave I believe but either way super friendly, lovely people. I only managed to take a photo of the bed haha but either way it was lovely. Thanks for a wonderful stay. We didn't use the restaurant only to have a quick drink but the food looked and smelled nice.(Will definitely sample a Sunday roast hopefully next time) :D Seemed busy too but did not impact the ability to sleep in any way.

Just called in for a pint instead of just passing, looks like a popular place to eat. Stopped off on a Wednesday evening about 6ish, restaurant end maybe just over half full, on leaving it was full so if you fancy trying a meal there I would recommend booking if you're going at popular times. Beer garden to the side, good bar area and ample parking at the front. June 2024 called in for food again after 2yrs, still as good as before, friendly staff, good chef. Wheelchair accessible.

Booked up via phone. Shown straight to seat. No pressure to order food straight away. Menu varied and caters for most dietary needs. We ordered starters and mains. Really tasty, hot food and plenty of it. So much food brought quite a bit home too good to waste. Staff were friendly and attentive. Busier than what we thought it might be for a Monday night. A testament in it's self.
