Not great. Stopped for lunch, main restaurant a. It chilly so we wanted to sit in the orangery/conservatory. There was a table free with a reserved sign, so my husband enquired as to the time it was reserved from. He was told it was being kept free, on the off chance a group of 6 people should come in! So we waited patiently looking at the empty table, we found it very strange to leave customers waiting for another table to come free when they had one there. We saw at least 4 sets of people come in and look at the table to then walk away ... not great customer service. We eventually got a table, which I had to clear. We ordered food and a glass of wine and cider. The white wine was warm, so I had to go back to the bar to ask for some ice. Food arrived (jacket potato with salad garnish & beef sandwich with salad garnish and portion of chips ). My husband and I began eating and as he was about to eat the salad discovered a dead fly in his salad! He immediately took back and spoke to the manger who said ‘oh sorry’ took it into the kitchen and brought him another salad like it was no big deal!!! The same manager cleared table with no further mention of it or any form of reiterating the apology. I think it’s probably fair to say most reputable restaurants would have been mortified if a customer found a fly in their food and certainly would not expect them to still pay for it. I could not eat my salad as this completely put me off, thought he could have eaten the fly had he have not spotted it. This place definitely works because of location rather than food...

What a location, the views are stunning and walks even better ... along cliff tops, or down to one of the most interesting beach areas .... caves, little areas cut into the cliffs. The walk down to the beach is a little daunting and for many, really tiring. But, if you make it, I iamgine it's the closest walk and feeling I'll ever be able to get to being a Pirate in times gone by! Kids love it. Although the walk down would, I imagine make it impossible to take a pushchair/buggy and unless taking really great care, not suitable for under 7's (give or take and that's just my opinion. On the few occassions I have been to this cafe/restaurant, I have been lucky enough every time to be able to see (from the clifftop and beach) several seals in the water quite close to the beach. On two occassions a seal has been up on the beach. It's such a great feeling to see them. The restaurant? Perhaps the best Fish 'n Chips in Yorkshire ... certainly amongst the very best. The 'Large Haddock 'n Chips' is not for the faint-hearted ... portion control is definitely not part of the kithcen's rules .... it's brilliant. Staff always helpful and friendly. The pricing makes this place excellent value for money. I'd recommend it to anyone of my firends & family, so obviously to those I don't know. (TopTip: Don't try to avoid paying for the parking ... the East Riding Council team make checks at the most unexpected times and in my expereince, never give an inch - or minute). Great place, go if you can ... and...

Terrible treatment. I am disabled and went to the cafe using my scooter. My husband collected my rollator from the car so that I could walk in. I selected a seat with my husband and grandchildren. I was asked to move to an area that I couldn't manage to walk to. Another woman came and asked me to move, no reaso given. so we went outside and realised we were on the other side of the restaurant. My husband had to collect my scooter and bring it around the restaurant to the other side. He then went in to get drinks for the children and myself. 2 half cups of watery hot chocolate which appeared to be from a vending style machine and the smallest lemonade I have ever seen. £9.85, quality and price are both appalling. My hot chocolate was horrible. As we were leaving a customer arrived with 2 dogs and got a great welcome. I didn't even get a hello, none of the staff offered to help and then we got very poor quality and ripped off. Never again will I go here and I will never recommend. We are local, I wish I had known. This must be the worst cafe I have ever been in. I can't walk very well but I am still human and am always respectful of others. I have never been...

The Headlands Restaurant boasts TWO orangeries so lots of indoor seating. Also some outdoor seating for the warmer weather! The staff are welcoming and very busy. We've eaten there previously and not been disappointed. The food is all cooked to order and sourced locally. It's a touch on the pricey side. I had a ham, cheese and mango chutney sandwich on brown bread. It came with side salad and homemade coleslaw. But today was a treat day. Coffee and banofee cake! A huge slice of cake, almost too much. 😉😁 The cafe welcomes well behaved dogs. It's a highlight of a trip to the headland and the lighthouse. Lack of space between the tables make wheelchair access tricky. UPDATE On a recent visit we were lucky to get a table. It was a busy lunchtime during half term holidays. There was a bit of a wait for the food: not surprising! My jacket potato with cheese was tasty and the side salad was nice. I couldn't help but think they could make some improvements to the layout and simplify the menu. That'd make it easier for the staff to be more efficient. Why is there a seperate bar for drinks? Make it all one counter and put the till at the end.
