My wife and I popped in last Thursday and had a bite to eat. First thing which was pleasing was the lady behind the bar asked us if we were eating, as the answer was yes, asked us to sit down and she would be over not only to get our food order but the drinks, fab. Bolognese Parmo and the Steak and Ale pie were really nice, the home-made chips are to die for. Couldn't fault both meals, even though the pie was in a bowl with pie crust on top! not my fav way to serve a pie but give credit were its due it was lovely. The lady who served us was attentive asking if all was ok and replenishing our drinks when required. We live local and have always hoped that this pub would once more be the pub it always should. Friendly, serving good home cooked food with a good selection of palatable drinks. I can safely say that its achieving those goals. P.S. Gravy was lush as was the bolognese sauce.

A Fantastic Find in Newton Aycliffe! My recent visit to The Hunters Pub in Newton Aycliffe was an absolute delight, and I can confidently give it a full 5-star review! From the moment I walked in, I was struck by the lovely, welcoming atmosphere. It truly felt like a local gem. What really stood out, beyond the great vibe, were the affordable drinks. It's refreshing to find a place that offers such good value without compromising on quality. My colleague even managed to snag a fantastic win, cashing in £15 for coming third in their question and answer session! It's brilliant to see a pub offering engaging games and the chance to win some cash back. The Hunters Pub is a must-visit for anyone looking for a friendly pub with great prices and fun entertainment. You can bring you pet as well. I'll definitely be back!

Came up from Derbyshire for the local football and googled “Newton Aycliffe parmo” as we knew we were close to parmo territory (you dont get them in the midlands). This pub came up and it did not disappoint! Absolutely delicious parmo, fabulous homemade chips and creamy coleslaw. The lady behind the bar was very welcoming, friendly and very attentive, exactly what you need after a long drive, a welcoming happy smile and good food. Thank you

Had a little visit with my friend after seeing so many good reviews. Firstly had to try and find a menu to order food while the barmaid just stared. I was surprised to see the menu completely different to online menu to a much disappointing choice. Ordered 3 courses for £13. First course was bacon loaded fries so incredibly salty to which I noticed huge pieces of rock salt on them, with bacon and cheese why add more salt completely ruined it. Absolutely disgusting. Ordered Chinese chicken and rice. The portion was tiny I'm baffled how this can be classed as a main meal. Chicken was tiny with too much batter and no flavour served with a tablespoon of rice. I asked for no salad it came with salad. My friend found a blonde hair in her chinese chicken . I had treacle pudding was bland and tasteless. Waited 30 mins for food that was barely warm.My disabled friend went to the disabled toilet came out upset the toilet itself was filthy she also mentioned how high up the flush handle was and how are disabled people meant to reach it. The man who was behind the bar (he may be a manager) went to everyone else in the restaurant if the food was ok and just avoided us. To be honest this man was not welcoming and made me feel on edge instead of comfortable. I hope the restaurant use this as feedback and make improvements this restaurant has...

We went on a Friday evening on payday weekend, so it was pretty busy with people drinking watching the footy rather than having a sit down meal when we were at the establishment. The reason we went for the meal at The Huntsman is because we had seen videos on YouTube of the parmo meals and of the parmo challenge. Although we (4 people) all had ordered parmos, we were quite underwhelmed when we saw the portion sizes for the price of the FULL sized parmo. For as we had seen on a video not 3 months prior uploaded onto YouTube from a reputable source, the size of the chicken parmo itself looked quite smaller in person. Although the food was tasty it just wasn't up to the hype that we looked forward to. From personal experience I would just say it's a place that serves food in a drinking establishment rather than a pub for quality and experience with the food. Just wanted to add a side note since I am not able to reply to comments that me dad's parmo had been sliced on 1 side, showing us that the sizes are not what they were in...
