Arrived after playing golf and was seated in a nice shady table as requested, seemed like a lovely place, never been there before. Waitresses were lovely, had a starter and dessert, which was changed at my request to have ice cream with it too... Great. However we were not told a large funeral was taking place outside in the large tent which we could hear word for word. I became upset at the crying I could hear from the funeral and went inside to request a table away from the funeral... admittedly I didn't remember my mask (was a bit taken aback that I was listening to someone's funeral) and the owner shouted at me put your mask on! He didn't ask if I was exempt just shouted at me... I have not been shouted at by a man in all my years and was taken aback at his arrogance...then a shouting match occurred and he said that it was one of his good friends and he used to drink in this pub and thats, why he didn't shut the place for the funeral baffles me, and why we were not informed that that was going to happy beggers belief. He did apologise for us not being told but continued to tell me that it was my attitude that was the problem..... I have worked in catering for most of my years and have never spoken to a paying customer that way. The customer is still always right however annoying that is for the catering industry. On walking out to hear don't bother coming back was hilarious as guess what I won't be and if your attitude carries on that way you will have no customers, there are lots of lovely places in leigh to dine or have lunch and that is where we intend to frequent in future. Very very bad first and only experience of this establishment. If you were upset about your friend you should not have been working, and as you said it was a very good friend maybe you should have shut it for a private funeral. I do not expect to be part of someone else's funeral whilst I'm having lunch with my friend, if I had been told, we would not have...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreYesterday lunchtime we met two friends for coffee, we sat outside under the gazebo - they are regulars and had already bought and finished their drinks, so I offered to buy them two more.
I ordered four white coffees at the bar, and about a minute later I wanted to change the order to two white, two black coffees. I apologised that Iād assumed our friends drunk white, but the owner told me curtly I was too late and would have to pay for six cups, I reluctantly agreed, as it was my oversight. Apparently heād made the four coffees already. When the drinks arrived 10 minutes later there were only four white coffees, so my wife commented about the experience. The owner replied rudely that it was my error, he wasnāt there to second guess customerās orders, if we wanted two more coffees weād have to pay for them, as he was running a business and giving away drinks affects his bottom line. I pointed out Iād agreed to pay for the two black coffees but then one of our friends agreed to drink a white coffee and so we asked for one black. It never arrivedā¦. 25 minutes later I went to pay the bill and asked why no black coffee arrived. I was told not to start an argument and donāt try to blame him for my original error. I pointed out that our table of four, plus four other diners near us were shocked by his manner and how he spoke to customers, I commented that neither us nor the other table would be returning; his reply was that there are plenty more customers and he didnāt care what I said or did. He continued being rude and obnoxious and raised his voice at me. I was aware, and embarrassed that diners in the restaurant were listening, so to end matters I paid for the coffees. As I left the restaurant he called sarcastically after me, ā I hope you have a nice day and donāt rush back!ā. Thereās no worry that will ever happenā¦..
I feel sorry for the staff that work for this man and hope he treats them with more respect than he does...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe booked a table for 1pm. When we turned up we were told to walk all the way around to the front to sign in which took about 10 mins waiting time then back through the restaurant yet when my husband went a few days before with his daughter (whilst a funeral was taking place there can you believe?) he hadnāt booked and was seated straight away without having to sign in. My point being is why make a family of four traipse all the way around and through the restaurant when I thought thatās what restaurants are trying to avoid at the moment - people up and around walking passed each other. They could have just seated us then the waitress go sign us in. We ordered drinks and when the waiter brought them over I asked if we could order our food to which he gave me a strange look and said theyāre not taking orders for 10 mins as itās too busy?! Why on earth would a restaurant book people in if the chef canāt keep up with orders? Iāve never heard anything like it. Hate to think what it must be like at the weekend then. Our waitress also came over and told us sheāll take our order in 5 mins as well. Nearly an hour later we could finally order and half an hour later we were eating. I ordered steak which was not worth Ā£28 at all. Looking at how lovely all the other overpriced food was coming out I thought this steak was going to be amazing. It was like charcoal on top. I asked for a steak knife. 5 mins later our waitress came over to ask if everything was ok so again I asked for a steak knife for which she apologised and brought over another 5 mins later. Overall I found the place expensive maybe not too some but for what the food is I know much better places so wonāt be going back to eat. Service is slow but Iāve found it slow in there before but thought Iād give it another go and found it even slower. Over an hour and a half to wait for food is ridiculous. The staff were all...
