The Jetty Padstow — Restaurant in England

Never again. We have visited the jetty in Christchurch and Southampton on several occasions and have always had a great experience. Unfortunately this was not the case in Padstow. We spent a night here and although there are many stunning restaurants to choose from, we decided to go with one we knew should be great. Oh how wrong we were. We were advised of a short wait due to a function next door, but 42mins to wait for a while you wait dish was ridiculous. Only for it to turn up burnt. Yes, the cockle popcorn were no more than paprika burnt pieces of fish. The jetty bites were standard deep fried fish that you would expect from Wetherspoons. We've had the cockles everytime we visit the jetty and they were nothing like the other restaurants. You would expect the same quality in all of them. The cod turned up cold and barely cooked in the centre and the lamb special was a struggle to cut with a steak knife. I really do hope Alex sees this and decides to visit his padstow establishment because I'm certain he will be as disappointed as...

Wow what can I say… on a rainy day in August we headed to The Jetty for Sunday lunch. The decoration inside is modern and stylish. We had the 2 course Sunday lunch prawn cocktail was lovely and fresh. Myself, husband and daughter had the sirloin beef which was cooked to perfection my son had the chicken and said it was the best he’s had. All came with large Yorkshire pudding that weren’t like the massive tasteless burnt ones you quite often get. Lovely roast potatoes and sides of green beans, roasted carrots, red cabbage and cauliflower cheese all fresh and perfectly cooked and the gravy was delicious… all washed down with really good wine and coffees to finish We couldn’t fit a dessert in but saw other people’s which looked really nice. Service was excellent and we had a lovely window view of the bay. Definitely recommend one of the nicest Sunday lunches...

We had a lovely very tasty meal, each selecting four different dishes and it was a lovely night. Unfortunately, one of our party was very ill the next day & two others were quite bad. I rang the hotel to let them know of the issue & I received a rather awful response, including a threat to sue me for liable. After the discussion returned to normality they said they would ring me back & over 1 week later they still have not responded to me. I will not be going back.
