I don't like leaving a bad review of a pub ( check out all my previous reviews) but in this case I feel like I have to let others know of the way I was treated. I have visited this pub for a few pints every time I have stayed in Swanage for the last 5 years and up until now its been good beer, good pub food and good service. This visit, on my own, I mentioned to the chap serving behind the bar that I was down for the Swanage Folk Festival ( I was Morris Dancing ) to which he said he didn't like it, didn't see the point of it, didnt get it , etc. That's fair enough. We're all different and I can take a bit of banter. I was about to explain about the tradition, etc but then one of a group of locals thought it was funny to make a really bad joke about why Morris dancers wear bells and then call me a c...t, to my face. The rest of the locals, all old fellas, had a good laugh, including the bloke serving behind the bar. Not particularly a good idea as there were 30 potential customers in our group camping up the road...Needless to say we won't return and am sorry that the pub missed out on our trade this weekend and in the future. We walked over to The Square and Compass instead where we had a really good time and where we were looked after.. I only gave it 2 stars instead of 1 owing to the friendly off duty bar staff in the beer garden with the 2 fab dogs. A real shame as until now I've...

Spent two weeks on a Dorset family holiday staying in Langton Matravers. Used the Kings Arms frequently during this time, would highly recommend. Great cosy, local atmosphere while being very welcoming to tourists. Good place to watch sport with a huge, high quality projector beside the bar and lots of space to move around. Snacks they provide such as chicken wings and calamari are lovely, worth the money. Nice range of ciders and beer, first time I had Inchs cider, was great from the tap. Btw where can I get the Inchs pint glasses you guys have.

Bar staff were extremely friendly and welcoming, laid back but always made sure you had everything you needed. Had a few nice chats with the staff and local people. Had two evening meals there during our stay, tasty food, large portions and remarkably quick and friendly service from the kitchen and waiters. Also reasonably priced, what would expect at a nice pub. Being dog friendly is a massive plus and seeing other peoples dogs gives the pub great character. Good location in the centre of the village on the main road, would recommend the Dancing Ledge as a local tourist attraction,...

A late review. We visited end of July during summer holidays of 2021. We camped nearby and this was the only pub in the area. By gosh, we were not settling at all. The food, best burgers I've had in a long long time. Huge serving we couldn't finish it so we packed the remainder. Couldn't waste it! We sat in the front room with a fire place. Such a lovely space. It was raining, otherwise we'd have loved the outdoor space. I highly recommend eating there if you're nearby or passing. Seems to be rather popular(unsurprisingly). Our teenage son even said the burger was in his top 3 best burgers ever. As you can imagine, teens are usually very economical in giving praise, so it must be good right. Our daughter decided on a kids portion of fish fingers but they were also pretty big. The portion of chips was nearly the same for adults. Not unhappy about it at all, we just packed the extra as well. Oh, we also got extra onion rings, not disappointed, huge rings of juicy sweet onions in a crispy light batter, we were fightin for the last one. 4...

Visited several times while on holiday and absolutely loved this pub. There is a great mix of a healthy crowd of loyal local visitors and those who are visiting from further afield. This is a perfectly placed refreshment stop along The Priest's Way as the food is a delight- we stopped for a drink but ended up having an awesome Sunday roast dinner. The kitchen is in a delightfully rustic shack in the garden, but don't be fooled by the appearance- the quality shows the chefs enjoy and are good at what they create. There is also a useful shop which stocks plenty of essentials for the locals as well as for tourists. We will definitely return.

Wow, what a brilliant pub. Not only is there great food and ale for visitors, but a great village centre too. Brilliant use of space and really nice staff. Food- good menu, good flavours Atmosphere - proper old pub, but also clean, homely, comfortable. Service- happy staff, looked after us Shop-what a great idea to have a small village shop in the pub to. Love it, as Arnie said ā€œI’ll be backā€ Update. Returned three times, still a great pub with great beer And now to make you smile....or groan Whats it called when a king and queen have no children? A receding heir line
