We spent three night on a b&b basis at the KIngs Head hotel last week and couldn't have chosen a better place to stay. We had two courtyard rooms, I will explain later, the main one with a mezzanine floor bedroom which was really nice. Super comfy king size bed and pillows along with really quiet surroundings made for excellent sleeps. Very nice spacious living room with comfortable sofa, large bathroom with super shower and plenty of hot water. Basics such as tea, coffee toiletries etc. are all provided. The hotel is in a wonderful location for exploring the Dales. Cleaners come in every day. We couldn't have asked for a better value break.|The best asset that this hotel has is its staff. Gaye and Chris in the dining room are a wonderful couple who kept us entertained during our breakfasts. Nothing was too much trouble for them. A big thank you to them both. A word of warning - the meals are wonderful but very large!!! We also ate in the hotel all three nights of our stay and found the menu varied, value for money and very tasty. |We also have to give a special mention to Charlotte on reception. She is excellent at her job and her customer service skills are perfect. We had a couple of issues whilst here. The first courtyard room we had was very nice until we returned after our first day of exploring the area to find water dripping through the bathroom light fitting from the room above. Although the hotel was very busy Charlotte insisted we move immediately and found us an alterative room. The second was an issue with one evening meal not being up to standard. Again Charlotte stepped in and insisted on another meal being provided as the hotel wanted all guests to enjoy their experince whilst staying with them. Many thanks to all the staff. I hope Greene KIng realise your value as I am sure it is all your efforts that make for such a wonderful break along with return visits at this hotel. If we are ever in the area this will be our go to place to stay. |Many thanks to you all for our...
Read moreNOTICE: This review is not about the hotel side of the business and based purely on my experience using the restraunt.
The weekend just passed, my self on my partner was on a little weekend break just up the road from the little village where this establishment is located.
During the day my self and my partner tried it out and shared a drink in the beer garden and we enjoyed the relaxed vibe and the staff was very polite, due to this we decided to return later that evening to have a meal.
Due to it being busy there was a 30 minute wait for our meals but this was not a problem as this happens when a place is busy so we had no issues with this.
My self and my partner ordered a burger off the menu and all I can say is what a disappointment, such a simple meal and yet it wasn't up to scratch. The brioche bun was hard, not hard as if it had been toasted, but hard as if the bread was stale and the burger was barely warm. Another thing that adds to it was it was meant to come with dips, and it didn't. I took 2 bites from my burger and my partner only took 1 and we couldn't continue to eat it.
We spoke to the member of staff at the bar and explained to him the situation, and in all fairness he was very polite and apologetic and explained that we could swap it for something else or we could have a refund.
We opted for the refund as we was put off from eating there. The member of staff then proceeded to the kitchen to speak to the chef, who basically implied that we was lying and they had sent the food out hot.
We got our refund for the food and as we was sat at the table we got speaking to the people next to us who then informed us that there was something missing from one of there dishes too that should have been there.
For a drink I would return but for food i would avoid personally. Maybe that was due to the amount of people attending the restraunt and the chef couldn't handle the heat, but that's not...

Just returned from a fabulous weekend stay at the KINGS HEAD HOTEL Masham (pronounced Massam) in beautiful North Yorkshire.
The absolute highlight of our stay at this stylish Pub-Hotel was the stellar staff.
Special mention to the wonderful Manager Jo Beevers, the entertaining husband and wife team Gaye and Chris and all the crew who made our stay such a delight.
We felt as if we had been warmly welcomed into a joyful and affectionate family, though the staff were always professional, courteous and extremely efficient.
The Kings Head is in the epicentre of quaint yet trendy Masham. Many of its rooms overlook the main square where there is easy parking.
Our two rooms were as well appointed as any Knightsbridge or Belgravia hotel in terms of what I consider the basic essentials.
Firstly lovely and warm; then a gleaming bathroom with constant hot water; comfy bed ensuring a great night’s sleep; plug and USB points in easy access on both sides of the bed; full length mirror; huge wardrobe with ample hangers, iron and ironing board; excellent kettle with coffee, tea, milk and biscuits plus mini milk-churn for fresh milk and a great TV in the perfect position and easy to operate.
Downstairs is a great vibey Bar and a separate Restaurant with an Olde Worlde feel, both serving scrumptious food. We enjoyed two fantastic breakfasts.
In the Bar, I loved the open fire adding to the mellow ambiance although it’s fair to say, the Bar is one of the liveliest of social rendezvous with locals and visitors and their doggies, mixing and mingling in a most convivial atmosphere.
A peak moment occurred at the end of our stay.
We were saying our farewells to Jo, having just made our Spring booking, when we were introduced to Harry, a magnificent red fox Labrador!
It was hard to tear ourselves away from the Kings Head but we look forward to many...
