What a shame… I mean how can you get it so wrong?! Gorgeous position with beaches and views in all directions, a stunning selection of areas to sit outside, a fab inn inside for those that was a cool cosy feel, dogs allowed, a sea offering fresh ingredients literally over there… On Sunday one might also expect some options such as a roast dinner. Just so many missed opportunities I’m afraid. Firstly, the new app system in places like Cornwall does not work… unless someone with the ability to make the internet work properly and thus ironically ruining the sparkle of peace in this fabulous county comes along we are only ever going to want someone to just pop up to the table and ask us for our orders. We are outside after all, we are socially distanced etc so please just come over and ask me what I would like, I would have been happy to have told you. So already steaming hot and thirsty this was my first cross against this pub. Secondly, the menu… again I would have loved some fresh fish, or a homemade roast, or a steak that didn’t cost as much as an entire cow. My vegetarian girlfriend had the option of veggie curry, halloumi burger and something else. She went for the burger despite being appalled of its £15 price tag and was handed a tiny slab of halloumi cheese in a bun, some sloppy chips and a salad a rabbit might even hop away from. I went for a fish and chips on the hope that I might have something tasty to make up for the disappointment she was feeling, but I had a greasy wedge of fish, with sloppy chips. The mushy peas were a delight but I had to wonder if a can had just been opened and a microwave turned on. The food plus a pint and half cost almost £40 - for lunch. A basic burger, not even meat was half of £30, let that sink in. I don’t think I have ever paid over ten pounds for a meat burger. I was shocked really. I don’t normally mind paying a bit extra for a nice setting if the service is smily and attentive but it wasn’t. So all I can say is, please Logan’s Rock, stop wasting your privilege position here, think about service, we are holiday makers, who have worked hard all year in the public sector. Show us some more respect. I would have demanded some money back but I had to go to a surf lesson, of which I felt I had much more value for money and there weren’t...
Read moreExtremely disappointing pub and really bad food.
I’ve worked in hospitality for 10 years and previously managed a pub, was really excited to get out the rain and enjoy what looked like a lovely cosy village pub.
We came in after walking all day, really hungry. I’m went for their cauliflower steak and when it came it out was most likely the saddest meal I’ve ever had. Less than a quarter of a cauliflower head, burnt on the outside, slightly seasoned I guess but extremely bland. 4 new potatoes no butter or sauce available. One roast tomato (only flavourful thing on the board). Side salad with what tasted like honey mustard dressing, on a vegan dish so couldn’t eat that either. Very very dry meal, minimal flavour.
At £15 for about 30p of produce making up my meal it’s pretty disgraceful. At least price it more accordingly at £6/7 or less.
My meal had less of a caloric value than my beer, left only slightly less hungry than when I came in.
Mentioned how bad it was to the staff at the end and they couldn’t care less. No one checked back on us when we were eating. Most staff didn’t seem like they wanted to be there. I wasn’t happy to pay for my meal since it was so bad but didn’t want to push it and no one offered to remove it.
All in all a really bad experience, would strongly advise people to stay away from this place.
They shouldn’t offer any vegan options here since they’re not fit for consumption, strongly avoid if vegetarian or vegan.
Found the whole experience here quite upsetting, really ruined a nice...
Read moreWe visited The Logan Rock for a Sunday roast today, enticed by the promise of a delectable meal at a reputable establishment. However, my experience left much to be desired, especially considering the hefty price tag of £21.95 per plate.
Let us start with the positives: the quality of the meat was commendable. Tender and flavorful, it was evident that attention had been paid to sourcing good-quality cuts. Unfortunately, this was where the praise ends.
The portion size was abysmally inadequate, particularly given the steep price. While the meat was satisfactory, the serving size left much to be desired, leaving me feeling unsatisfied and, frankly, a bit shortchanged.
Moving on to the accompaniments, the vegetables were indeed hot and boasted a decent flavour. However, the portion provided was intended for two individuals, yet it was just enough for one person. This lack of generosity further contributed to the sense of disappointment.
As for the roast potatoes, they failed to impress. Lacking the crispiness and flavour one would expect from a well-executed roast dinner, they fell short of expectations and added to the overall underwhelming experience.
In summary, while The Logan Rock Inn may pride itself on offering a premium dining experience, my recent visit failed to live up to the hype. With a price tag of £21.95, one would rightfully expect a meal that is both satisfying in portion size and exemplary in taste. Regrettably, what was delivered fell far short of...
