Having read the website and seeing we couldn’t book, my partner and I planned our trip to try to stay at the campsite for one night. We arrived, explained how we’d got there (although we weren’t sure why that was important) and were given a spot to pitch our tent. About 20 minutes later the campsite manager/owner (not the people who helped us at reception) came up to us and said angrily “you’ve been telling us lies!” And proceeded to demand that we unpitch our tent and leave immediately. At this point, leaving at this time would mean we’d miss the show we were going to see around the corner. There was also no one else at that moment looking to pitch the tent. After some explanation, the lady then let us stay, then 5-10 minutes later came back, angry again, and demanded again that we take down our tent.
This was really distressing and extremely unprofessional, and it was not nice to be falsely accused of lying. After another long plea with the owner andthe other staff there, we were allowed to stay and it seemed to be understood that there had been a misunderstanding. Still, we had already been tired from travelling and the stress of so much petty conflict made us extremely uncomfortable during our night’s stay. Some suggestions for the campsite are:
Have a clear way for staff to ask those asking to camp with you how they travelled to the site, rather than just “are you a walker?”
Make it clear in conversation online & signs outside what you mean by a “walker”, and why you reserve places for those who have hiked a long way. We thought you meant someone who had got there by foot as we had, rather than someone with a car. An easy misunderstanding to a vague question.
Rather than saying to customers “you’ve been lying to us!”, be open to the possibility of people being good and there having being a misunderstanding- you could do this by instead saying “can I just check how you got here today”
If you realise you have falsely accused people of lying and started a conflict with them as a result, apologise for this mistake and the...
Read moreWas recommended this campsite by friends and told about the qué system they have. We initially thought this system sounded great as we are local wanting to get away with our toddler for a few night and hadn't booked anywhere. We came at 9.30 to add our name to the list and was told that the list was long and they couldn't promise anything, which is obviously fine we hoped if we didn't get a place by 10.30 we would have a chance to look elsewhere as it was still early.||||However what we didn't realise is that at 10.30 they slowly start reading names every 10-15 minutes or so and give no indication how likely a space is until they are ready. My partner went to reception to ask at about 11 is it likely we will get a spot if not we could start looking elsewhere and was told that they don't know because they basically have to see how it pans out. ||||Long story short we ended up waiting for two hours to be told there was no room. Even though they had a list of people to pitch Infront of them (and obviously knows how many pitches they have) and had that list since 10.30. They knew how many spaces they had but couldn't be bothered to let us know so we could go elsewhere.||||We were the last people to be seen too and told at 11.30 that there was no room. Left with a hungry tired baby that we now have to either go home with or try and scramble to find another pitch after wasting half the day.||||Total disregard to people that have made an effort to come to the campsite. Just another business that cares about lining their pockets at any cost. ||||I would actually say that if you think your going to make the most of your day when you get there, pitch up and go down to the beach you should be aware that they are in no rush to pitch you,if you even get a space and your day will be totally wasted waiting in a qué.|| ||Treen farm- have some courtesy and have the decency to tell people waiting if they have no chance to allow them to find another campsite before the afternoon if they have made the effort to come to your site!!! ||||Would...
Read moreI was tempted to only give the place 3 stars in total.
Location perfect! Site very good, showers and toilets clean, access to tumble drier, toaster and microwave on the side.
I like the idea of supporting local business that still works like old days, no prebooking but face to face human contact but this only seem to work one way. We have had one realy bad night with storm hitting the site. 90% of tents were gone of down to the ground before night but there was noone on the site to help us. The people were gathering in the kitchen sleeping in there or in the cars, well those that desided to stay. And in the morning noone came to us to ask how we latest the night and if any help was needed. Not even a cup of hot drink to offer. We were even told off of not extending our stay the night before when we gone to do so in the morning. Well we didn't even know if the tent would still be there after night with winds reaching 60miles per hour and heavy rain! So let's say, it is facade of family run business but it is a business like every where else.
You don't get receipt so you don't even know whet you are being charged for.
A pizza van was advertised to come to the site all week. Never arrived and we ran back from the beach just to have a pizza.
Some suggestions for improvements: Shared fridge would be good, just to keep a bottle of milk in Possibly a safe rental, like for car keys. I would rather lock them there for the night than carry them around the beach all day. Maybe some recommendations for where to go for food, how to order take away or even beach info. How to get where and where dogs are allowed. The closes Cove is dog and naturist friendly but there is a 10m straight climb to access it. And a bin by the kitchen area so food bits can be disposed off, the sinks were constantly clogged up. I appreciated the sponges and washing up liquid that...
