📍 THE OLD FARMHOUSE // DARLINGTON — The Old Farmhouse found on Yarm Road, Darlington, is a modern rustic pub that does a lush Sunday dinner! 😋 ••• ORDER ••• What we got: * 3x Sunday Trio - sirloin beef, pork belly, and turkey breast with crackling, stuffing, Yorkshire puddings and fresh veg (£21.50) 🍽️ * Sticky toffee pudding with custard (£8.25) * Double chocolate brownie (£8.25) * Bramley apple & blackberry crumble with custard (£7.95) The staff were super friendly making the place all the more welcoming and the pub is dog friendly 🐶💕 . . . #food #foodie #foodtiktok #foodtok #foodlover #foodies #tonistaste #sundaydinner #theoldfarmhouse #darlington #pudding #stickytoffeepudding #foodblogger #foodblog

I didn't want to do a review as this place really is a gem that I'd like to keep for myself. The food is spectacular (not an understatement) They say that you eat with your eyes, and with the way my meal was presented, I couldn't wait to get stuck in. The staff are friendly, chatty and the restaurant is well layed out and clean. Tables are nicely spaced out so you have your meal and conversation with your group and not several other tables. The Chef is amazing and his food speaks volumes. Great selection at the bar and to be honest, yes, some things on the menu were a little pricey but having eaten here a few times, the food is worth every penny. They have an extensive menu catering do or all tastes and yes, you can even take your pooch with you, so muddy boots, muddy paws are also welcome. That said, the place was spotless. Do I recommend it, oh yes, and with a loyalty card to take money off my next visit, I'll be back. (Belly Pork is amazing) I've included pics of the snack menu but not the main "all singing and dancing" one.

This is a lovely pub on the outskirts of Darlington, the decor was very nice, the staff were polite, and attentive, but although the food was tasty there were a couple of points which tainted the over all experience. I ordered the CHICKEN PARMIGIANA, the chips were dry french fries and the salad was a handfull of rocket with some reg cabbage coverage, the Chicken though was very tasty. The wife ordered the STICKY DUCK & HOISIN PIZZA, which at £16.50 was not very good, poor value for money, the base was very tasty but there was little duck or cheese, with some slices having neither. This was pointed out to the waitress at the time. The puddings were decent although again a little over priced. so for a couple of issues we felt the meal over all although tasty was over priced considering the lack of pizza topping and poor fries and salad.

Visited for a meal as part of a group. When we arrived we didnt get show to our seat just told where it was (not the end of the world). We were sat for a while and then had to go to the bar to get our own menu, then go to the bar and order our drinks (any time we wanted a drink throughout the night). y first drink I requested the raspberry and orange blossom soda and what I was given was soda with dried raspberries in it. The next time I ordered ust orange blossom soda and was given the right drink for my first order. I ordered a pot of tea and I was asked by a waitress to grab the teapot by the bottom (obviously hot) to which me and the table I was sat at laughed and tried to just play it off but she stood there waiting for me to grab it... I had to explain that obviously a teapot is hot and I cant just grab it. Food was ok, very expensive for what it is. I had calimari and steak because they were sold out of what I actually wanted. The calimari was meh, bland in itself (I would argue frozen and pre-prepared just drop fried) and the sauce it came with smelled like antibac, I think its some sort of cajun mayo. The steak was cooked blue, as per request, and tasted nice, beef dripping sauce was gorgeous and the tomatoes were stunning. The chips however, again a guess, were frozen as 3 of mine and 2 of another guests were cold and hard in the middle. Oh and we didnt get asked if we wanted sauces, any top up drinks or anything like that.

I think for a place with such high prices and classy interior, I expected a little more service. I felt like I was at wetherspoons but paying twice as much for the experience. Really put me off going back. For the same price you can go to beefeater over the road and get more food, unlimited drinks and be served your items rather than ordering them...

Visited a couple of weeks ago, at the start of the EPTHO offer and was our first family meal out after lockdown. We booked in advance and were seated quickly however we were not happy with the table given - it was right in the middle of the dining room and in the crosswalk between the kitchen / main dining room / doorway to the outside seating area so there was constantly people walking past which did not feel safe. The table was not cleaned prior to us being seated, although this was rectified immediately. We requested another table a couple of time’s but were told the other available tables around were for other bookings, they were all filled approx 20-30 mins after we were seated and although we do not know the way the seating is organised we were disappointed that we could not be moved. We could not relax the whole meal as were constantly worried about the people walking close by, in particular one member of staff walked right behind us multiple time’s whilst visiting other tables and there was no social distancing. We were disappointed when we ordered to learn that the meals we wanted were out of stock, though appreciate the restaurant had a busy day. The food was average at best and I left most of my meal. We have no complaints about the actual staff who were all very friendly, we just do not think that table should have been where it was and we did not feel Covid-secure at all. We will not...
