We went for a nice meal to finish the weekend. The Staff helped with food allergens as we entered and gave sheets to look through. After ordering, they further checked allergens and found some trace and double checked before preparing foods. The atmosphere was good apart from a table next to us changing their order after the fact then not saying about everyone's allergens until they were given food (one person said they had it and no one else, then three had it when served). They were rude to staff and as much as the staff tried to help, they didn't want food taken away and just a discount offered as allergen food is done separately. Staff were friendly and supportive and tried to help as much as possible but can only work with what they are informed of. Our food was very tasty, and just really nice time.

Incredibly busy. Overbooked is an understatement. I appreciate the staff do not create the booking process and limits, but something needs to be done. I do also understand it was Father’s Day, but surely there are many other places for fathers to go for Father’s Day. This ‘special day’ is nowhere near an acceptable excuse for overbooking a restaurant so severely for breakfast service. Staff were clearly rushed off their feet but were still friendly and willing to help, so there is a plus. Please do reconsider all future management and booking decisions, because this was… quite frankly, HELL ON EARTH. See attached image of the queue to get seen to your pre-booked table. I didn’t take a photo of the long queue for the actual food, because I would’ve been almost outside the door - it was LONG.

Right next to our Premier Inn stay, we discovered the Beefeater – and it turned out to be the perfect spot for both breakfasts and dinners. 🍳🥩 The food was consistently delicious – from hearty breakfasts that kept us fuelled for the day, to juicy, perfectly cooked steaks that felt like a proper treat. Honestly, those steaks deserve their own round of applause 👏 (and maybe their own fan club too 😂). Service was just as great – friendly, quick, and always with a smile. You can tell the team here really cares about making guests feel welcome. Great food, great atmosphere, and great value – we’ll definitely be back the next time we’re in Darlington!

Me and my family went here for my sister's 17th birthday meal, we were seated pretty much straight away as it was quiet.

We were sat waiting for half an hour before a waitress took our order for drinks. . . We insisted we order food aswell as we were waiting for a while already. We then waited another 15 minutes for the drinks to arrive, baring in mind they were all soft drinks and there was only 5 people at our table.

We were waiting for over an hour for food and all five of our meals were cold/Luke warm.

I ordered a steak with peppercorn sauce and the peppercorn sauce never arrived and when we reminded them they took a while to bring the sauce out and my steak was stone cold. There was no apologies for the delay in anything regarding to drinks/food or them not bringing sauce out.

My steak was not eaten and all the other meals were not enjoyed either. The waitress came to take our plates away obviously saw my steak wasn't eaten and didn't bother asking if everything was okay with the meals ect... So we explained the situation and told her we weren't going to be paying for the 'UN-eaten steak' to what she then replies 'okay I'll have to check with my manager as I can't do that' then asked my sister to pass her the plate. No please /thank you or any form of apology.

The manager never came over and looked as if she was avoiding us. Then we got up to pay the remaining bill at the bar as noone brought a bill over and she came over and said " I've taken the one steak off and all I can do Is apologize" and walked off.

Not one member of staff was polite nor did any staff smile during our whole visit.

Maybe my sister's 18th birthday will be better

Thanks Beefeater,...

Well what can I say. I went with my Mother, Nana, Grandad, Uncle and Auntie for a nice birthday/ Mother’s Day lunch as it is my Nana’s birthday on Mother’s Day. We all ordered and I being a vegetarian ordered the sweet potato and feta lasagna. All our meals came and we started eating. Mine was quite hot and I couldn’t really taste anything but hot cheese, I was chewing thinking this doesn’t feel like sweet potato and I can’t taste the normally strong taste that comes with feta. I decided to cut up my lasagna to cook it down and explore my meal. Then to my horror I noticed mince and no sign of potato or feta. I have been a vegetarian for around 6 years now and I was utterly disgusted, I turned to my mum and said I feel sick when my mum asked why I pointed to my meal and said it’s meat. My uncle then enquired as to what was wrong and when told he like my mother were appalled. We flagged down the waitress and told her she then went to talk to the manager. After checking the till and taking my plate away they returned saying that the chef put the wrong tray in the oven because of some mix up with the new system. In fairness to them the manager did apologise, offer free drinks and desserts and refunded the bill, but honestly doesn’t really help much as myself and the rest of the party didn’t particularly want to eat anything else from them. I feel ill as well as feeling disgusted. 6 years of not eating meat and I was lied to and in a way tricked into eating something my body isn’t used to, essentially poisoning me. It’s safe to say I will never step foot in this or any beefeater...

I went for dinner with my wife, my wife she had a burger and chips and I had the steak and ale pie and triple fried chips and peas. For what this was, it was extremely expensive. We also had a coke and cappuccino. £37 ish was very expensive the chips weren’t triple fried and the pie had absolutely no filling. It ruined my dinner even though my wife’s was reasonable. I didn’t pay for my meal as I never ate it, but you would have thought without me asking they would’ve knocked off the drinks I had to ask and they only knocked off my cappuccino. To be honest, I won’t be having lunch there again. Breakfast is normally good for two £21. Ish is excellent for help yourself and eat, what you like? Coffee is free at least this is the case in other beefeaters, our experience though was different in this one, we had to order individually! Waitress was polite. I really hope they come and sort a different supplier out and give you wholesome food rather than gravy in a pie. We purchase our steak pies from a local farm shop for £3 each which are full of meat, this just shows you’re buying cheap rubbish which we could get at the supermarket. The chips to be honest, were disgusting they were not triple fried as stated. For the price I was expecting a decent meal, my wife enjoyed her burger but to be honest it looked as though it was from a packet which I could have got at McDonald’s! I asked for veg with my pie but veg apparently had not been delivered to...
