We always try to support independent venues over large chains, so we were excited to visit The Parr Arms for our nieceâs birthday. On arrival, we were impressed by the dĂ©cor and overall atmosphere. Unfortunately, the experience went downhill from there.
The service was painfully slow, and the staffâs attitude was far from welcoming. That said, the food was well presented and tasted great, and we even discussed returning in the future as itâs close to our nieceâs sheltered accommodation.
However, at 14:21, we were abruptly told to leave our table as the next reservation had arrived. We had booked for 13:30 and, by their own two-hour policy, should have had the table until 15:30. Even based on our early arrival at 13:10, we should have had until at least 15:10âyet we were rushed out with over 30 minutes remaining on our slot.
To make matters worse, our niece, who has an intellectual disability, had been promised a dessert after her mealâa rare treat for her. When we explained we hadnât ordered desserts yet, we were met with a dismissive shrug and a half-hearted âsorry.â The slow service wasnât our fault, yet we were made to pay for it.
Sadly, after this experience, we wonât be returning or recommending The Parr Arms to others. A real shame, as the food was lovely, but the customer service let it...
Read moreWhere do we start how about undercooked vegetables. Been for lunch today at The Parr Arms we ordered the Cheese pie with double cooked chips, and fresh vegetables, fresh is the key word think what you mean is raw they were horrid. No doubt about it the cook doesn't use any seasoning or salt. The vegetables were raw, tasteless just like the dish of replacement vegetables you brought them also tasteless and unseasoned and microwave to death I don't care what you say they were microwaved. A total waste of a long journey and waste of £32 in total , which included £3 for half a pot of cool tea and £3:50 for a very small cappuccino , the drinks are an astronomical price not worth the price it's a total rip off pub , people must be stupid paying prices like this open your eyes for god's sake. No doubt about it we will not be returning to this place again, you might thing it's a popular place but thinking about it it's one of the only pubs around there, please think hard before you waste your money. Cheese pie was good not brilliant but just about passes, the double cooked chips very nice, staff OK, pub itself could do with good cleaning, note the two plastic bins behind the bar yuk yuk yuk........ Sorry guys 3/10 and it's only just a 3 not...
Read moreService without a smile. Beautifully decorated pub, which is the only positive thing I have to say about it. Food was OK except one of the chicken breast was very tough at one end like it was over cooked. Could barely get a knife through it. Fed it to the dog who didn't mind it. The real problem was the completely disinterested and unfriendly staff - two middle aged women, one of whom seemed like the manager. No pleasantries were afforded to us whatsoever. When we first arrived they were fawning over two puppies and it took several minutes before they paid any attention to us. When we enquired about what the New York chicken on the specials board was, the response was "what? You've never heard of new York chicken?" She then struggled to explain what it was. Eventually when we'd finished our meal, nobody came to clear away our plates even though we stayed for a long time after while we finished our drinks, despite there now being an additional two younger women behind the bar, all chatting instead of giving us service. Very frustrating. We said goodbye when we left and they all ignored us. I thought it was extremely rude considering...
