A good place for your chinese food cravings when in Warrington. This restaurant is bit on pricier side, but seems quite popular with locals. Coming to the food, I had spicy hot and sour soup which was okay, and seems like prepared in advance. For starters I had siu mai (pork dumplings) which was freshly made, and had a great taste. For mains I went with severs recommendation, smoking black pepper chicken which did not disappoint. I also had some egg fried rice to go with it, which was pretty basic. The portion size was quite good and I would recommend sharing. Overall a good place, do give it a try when you visit Warrington.

Wow... What a wonderful meal and experience at Choy Hing Village. Having lived in Warrington my entire life, I'd never eaten here before. Really disappointed I haven't! As a party of 5, we ordered the Christmas banquet. The food was outstanding. All hot, fresh and delicious. The courses were timed perfectly; we did not feel rushed and had enough time between each course to pace our meal. The service was really prompt and attentive. I will definitely be back, thank you for a lovely evening!

Met a friend for dinner after work (no reservations) and we had the early diner set meal. Mixed starters, salt & pepper prawns and sweet & sour chicken for mains with egg fried rice and pineapple fritters with icecream to finish. Everything was delicious! Menu highlights were the chicken and the seaweed starter. I had an espresso with my pudding too and it was the nicest coffee I’ve had in ages.

Edited: I had previously rated very low due to them taking our takeaway order and upon arrival stating they had ran out of chicken so couldn’t give us our order. (Original review at the bottom) However, we attempted a takeaway again on Saturday night and I am pleased to change my review. It is also worth noting how apologetic they were regarding our last experience.

The food was delicious and of excellent quality, in addition to last portion sizes. Very glad we tried again and would recommend the chicken satay skewers starters - 5/5. It is a very busy restaurant (I can see why) and with the collection point being at the back and my review on this occasion being regards to a takeaway, I would rate the atmosphere a 4/5. The service I would also rate 4/5 just based on last times experience I couldn’t give a 5 just yet although last time may have been a one off.

Additional note - parking is very difficult on site as it is narrow with tight spaces, and very few.

Previous review: Unfortunately I can’t give a better rating than a 1 star for service as we ordered take away via phone and driven 6 miles for it as it has great reviews, only to get there and be told there’s no chicken so they can’t do my order…wouldn’t have been a problem if they’d have said this on the phone but they happily took my order, possibly in hope that I’d just order something else when I arrived to collect my order?

This was a midweek order, in which I arrived to collect 2 hours before closing so not sure why there wasn’t any chicken left for the order. Not sure if this is a one off but I can only rate based on my experience.

The food…well I can’t comment on that on this occasion as (to be a broken record) they’d ran out of chicken so I didn’t get my order. The price of the food is what you can expect from a restaurant these days, maybe a little on the pricey side compared to typical pub meals but I’d say comparable to Italian restaurants in the area.

As for the atmosphere, it’s pretty dark inside and you have to walk through to the back of the restaurant to collect your order which isn’t the greatest as you’re walking through people dining in eating their meals. Also, you have to queue through the doors before entering which isn’t nice when the weather is very ‘British’. It does look like an authentic restaurant though so if that’s what you’re after, aside from the previously mentioned, you may enjoy...

Went during the Eat out to Help out.. expecting a really good meal at a little lower price than full price. although it was £10 a head off due to the gov offer.. it was more like £20 less in quality.

Service was prompt.. but a little rushed.. asking us 3 times if we were ready to order.. 5 mins 7 mins and 10 mins after we sat down.

Had the Shredded Duck.. which was done in the kitchen and not at the table like everyone else.. it was Dry, not so warm and very salty.. this lead me to believe it was hanging around before being served.

also had Beef skewers in Cantonese sauce.. this was not hot either and frankly was poor quality beef..

my main complaint is that they were getting a lot of people in the restaurant/ cafe.. many of which were their first time like me due to the reputation this restaurant had and was a perfect time to showcase their menu and service, but this was lost opportunity in my mind.

I also think that in normal times the menu would reflect a mid week pricing which was not there.

i know friends have gone to other restaurants and come away satisfied that they were helping out on this occasion i feel we were ripped off and the extra £20.00 supplement went in their pockets not...

Been here twice before, was not impressed, when I book a table for 4 people on a birthday treat, I do not expect my guests and myself to be keep waiting for 45 minutes for a table, they will not turn a booking away no matter what, it seems that they have two gods and one of them is money. I know that the whole place was shut down with immediate effect not so long ago by Food Hygiene Standards for having a filthy kitchen, so what does that tell you. As you cannot see into the kitchen how do we know it has not reverted back to its original disgusting state. The food is vastly overpriced, the service is slow and there seems to be a lackadaisical attitude with the staff, after the dirty kitchen fiasco I have not and never will go back, I value my health too much. Just up the road and on the other side by the traffic lights is Golden City Chinese Takeaway, now that's value for money, better food for 1/3 of the price, great service, steaming hot food, and the whole place is spotless. Want the possibility of food poisoning......Choy Hing Village Want to get ripped off on price...................Choy...
