Unfortunately, didn't meet expectations. We popped in on a Sunday and decided to stay for food. For starter we ordered mushrooms on sourdough toast with spinach and mozzarella cheese. When it arrived the mozzarella was substituted for a soft boiled egg, this wasn't mentioned upon ordering. Also find it cheeky that they subbed the cheese for a much cheaper alternative yet still charged the same price of £8. It wasn't worth £8. When ordering the main, we went for the chicken Sunday roast. Upon ordering we were told there is no bread sauce and no cabbage. No reduction in price here either. When the meal arrived, as you can see from the picture, for £17 it's a meagre portion. The pig in blanket was missing and the stuffing seemed like it was from a packet mix and had been mixed with boiling water only and not put in the oven meaning it was soggy. The meal was also incredibly salty and the chicken was from the leg, so the cheapest form of meat they could have used. The pub itself is in a nice area and is aesthetically pleasing, but I would only recommend stopping for a drink, there are much better places to eat locally.

We love The Rams, it's our local and we are always in for a drink and enjoy the lovely busy atmosphere it's lacked before it's recent owners. However, since the new take over, we have heard mixed reviews about the food. Thought we would give it a go and we were left disappointed in the food. The fish and chips was lovely but should be advertised as fish and fries! Felt robbed of a proper fish and chips and would suggest a change to the menu here. I didn't get a picture of the £9 calamari and again whilst tasty, I paid £9 for 5 rings of calamari and it felt like daylight robbery! I understand times are hard and we do not shy away from paying out but based on our experience today I would not be recommending the food. Great if you want a pint with a lovely atmosphere!

Fantastic Experience at Rams Head Inn for My Dad’s 52nd Birthday! We recently celebrated my dad’s 52nd birthday at Rams Head Inn, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish. The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond to make the evening special. Their hospitality was second to none! The food was exceptional—delicious, well-presented, and fantastic value for money. Every dish was bursting with flavor, and it was clear that great care was put into every detail. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with a friendly vibe that made the evening even more enjoyable. It truly felt like the perfect place for a family celebration. We will definitely be returning for future events! Highly recommend!

What could have been such a lovely evening was ruined by very slow, poor service and not getting what you pay for.

I booked a meal this evening (Thursday) with my family, we booked way in advance and paid a deposit to secure the booking. We were asked to preorder at the time, however when I contacted the pub again to provide my order they said they didn't need it and to just order on the day.

We arrived and ordered, and waited 1h30 minutes before our starters came out which was frankly ridiculous. When the starters did come out, we realised we had paid £9 for 3 rings of calamari and some dip, absolutely ridiculous rip off! One of us sent it back because it was such a ridiculous price for hardly any food.

Our mains continued to take an absolute age to come out, and so half of my group decided to cancel the order, as we had a young child with us who was needing to go home. The restaurant cancelled our order and didn't charge us, however two in our group were still wanting to have their main courses. The manager of the pub came over to our table to see what was going on, however when we complained about the length of time, he took no accountability, and was just talking about how busy it was. We complained about the calamari portion size, and he again did not apologise and just said it wasn't his decision and was out of his hands (which I don't understand, as he was the manager).

As well as not apologising, he told us that if we weren't going to be eating, we would need to get off the table straight away added the remaining two people had finished their meals. No accountability and no empathy to our situation at all!

The worst thing was that when I started speaking and trying to explain further about the preorder and my frustration with this, he wouldn't let me speak and interrupted me rudely, saying that he wanted to just get the remaining two meals out to the remaining guests. He told me he would come back to the table and I told him not to bother. He came back a few minutes later to check on the meals but didn't acknowledge me, but tried to appear sympathetic by patting my husband on the back (!).

We will not be returning to this pub for food and I would certainly avoid if you want value for money and if you want to be treated with respect as a customer. The manager here certainly needs to learn some basic customer service skills including empathy, and especially treating women...

Absolutely shocking. Having been a local for Sunday dinner for a long time and having had a very high opinion of the place, I invited my parents over from Wales to eat. First mistake - they don't do Sunday lunch/ dinner anymore since new management... So, the front line staff weren't briefed correctly on what the dishes consisted of (I can't explain how difficult it was to get a clear idea of what each dish was/ came with) the specials board had 1 special left (at 6pm). Then the food ordered arrived with sauce missing (mine) so I had to send my dish back to keep warm while my party tucked into theirs. My boyfriend couldn't eat he's (and he can eat) because of the volume of salt in he's bangers & mash. The waiter, who was simply trying he's absolute best to provide a great service was up against it given the clear lack of supervision.. I spoke to, what I guess, was the duty manager, who challenged our waiter, in front of me. Totally inappropriate, so I spoke to the higher management (a guy sat at the bar on a laptop), to explain our awful experience and the unprofessional reaction from he's deputy towards our waiter. I found him to be quite unresponsive and uninterested! No apology, Not to mention the bar staff's inability to smile. Having worked in hotel management/ customer service - this experience since the new management is totally unacceptable. I just feel sorry for the waiting on...

The two of us arrived about 12:50 on a Thursday, took our seats and shortly afterwards placed our order for food and drinks. The pub was quiet and did not appear overly busy. The drinks arrived promptly and we awaited our food. As the minutes ticked by no member of staff came back to our table to see if we wanted further drinks. After waiting nearly an hour and seeing other tables served food who had arrived and ordered after us, I approached one of the male staff to enquire where our food was. I was informed by him that it was being "just being plated up". Ten minutes later and still no food appeared. Only then were we told by the same male staff member there had been an issue with our order and it had not been made. I informed him that in that case I had been lied to when told by him that our food was being plated up. I asked how much our drinks came to (a tonic water and an orange juice - nothing expensive) and said we were leaving. This was at 14.00 - well over an hour after ordering.I was told there was no charge for the drinks. We then left. The pub is cold (I noticed other patrons inside wearing coats and jackets throughout), has inattentive staff and is not somewhere I ever wish to return to. Being lied to by the staff is inexcusable. If you forget an order then front up and admit it - don't lie and then try to worm your way out of it. We won't...
