Great little village pub with bags of atmosphere and a strong link to the bomber squadrons that flew from Pocklington airfield during WWII. There are loads of photos, squadron badges etc, on display. We had a drink, went for a lovely 4 mile walk through the woods on Allerthorpe Common, then returned for a meal and more drinks. Staff were friendly and helpful. Although there was a fairly limited choice of beers, what they had were very well kept, Timothy Taylors being the best. The food was excellent, a very good menu with plenty of choice, even for the vegan in our party and the prices were very reasonable. Highly recommended

Lovely pub in a quiet little corner. The staff were great and friendly. They have a dedicated Non Gluten menu for my coeliac 15yr old daughter which made life much easier for us for once. Food selection and quality was amazing. Everyone enjoyed it. They have a great selection of draught beers too. I'm not kidding when I write... That was the best Lasagne I've ever had. Thank you.

Came here on Saturday of the August bank holiday weekend. It's a lovely picturesque pub in the equally lovely picturesque village of Allerthorpe. I had the gammon streak and my wife has the chicken burger. The food was fairly priced and of good quality, we both really enjoyed our visit here. I expect I'll frequency visit this place from now on, well recommended.

so where do i start we where down only for a day from Northumberland as we needed to check out something any way before we came home we needed to use a rest room of some sorts and we knew this pub was here so we drove to it and was open good stuff we where greeted by a young girl who was so happy and smiling it was brilliant we got a table in the bar bit where given our menus and basically left to chill for bit

a few mins later the same girl asked if we wanted drinks and we ordered them came very quickly the we ordered the food i went for the smash burger but was undecided but eventually went for the chillie natcho cheese the young lady said yess great choice its what i always get and she was right the wife got tune melt said it was amazing so for this great very old pub in York is worth a visit staff amazing food amazing location amazing just all amazing really definitely will be back and just over £30 for 2 meals 2 drinks excellent value

Saw the recommendations for the pies served here and thought we have to try it, especially as lamb and mint pie is our favourite and it's a dog friendly pub. Now I can honestly recommend the pie it was absolutely delicious with lots of lovely gravy. Plus the food portion sizes were pretty decent, and lots of free parking available too. However, the pies are served with either mash potatoes or chips, and mash not being my favourite and not fancying chips. I did ask if there was a possibility of having a few roast potatoes instead, especially as they were serving Sunday lunches. I was told no, all the roast potatoes were allocated to the Sunday lunches and none could be spared. Which seemed a little strange, as there will always be extra in case of accidents. Also one of the staff members was rather off hand with us when we first entered, and we asked where we could sit with a dog. So maybe a little customer service tlc might be an idea...

A special event for me! It has been many a year since I have been at The Plough Inn, but what a pleasure it was to be back. We were greeted and seated close to a lovely warm fire. The young lady serving us on that day couldn't have been more helpful, she was so friendly and catered to our every need. We chose from the menu, my friend having fish and chips and I had the chicken in a cream sauce with rice. The portions were very generous, but above anything else were beautifully cooked and presented. Mine was particularly tasty and my friend loved her fish. We finished off with a beautiful vanilla and raspberry cheesecake with icecream, yum! The Plough Inn is certainly now on my radar to bring family and friends. Thank you for making my day even...
