We visited The Plough last night, we were met by friendly staff and had a joke with them. My husband ordered mixed grill and I ordered sirloin steak with cheese onion and mushroom topping. The steak was all gristle so we sent it back. Staff apologised and said 3-4 minutes for another one. 20 minutes later my husband had finished his meal and went to ask what was happening. My meal arrived, first bite of steak was gristle, I scraped topping off and all around edge and through the middle was a tough line of gristle. I sent it back, we did stay for dessert and were told it was on the house. My husband asked if we were going to have a refund on my meal but we were told no you had free pudding. The manageress came out and said why should you have the meal free, you asked for the steak to be recooked and it was. I explained I'd had to send that back too and when you order a sirloin with a topping you shouldn't have to scrape the topping off and have to cut around the gristle to eat. My husband said he wanted a refund on my meal as I hadn't had one and had understood that the desserts were a goodwill gesture. The manageress clearly wasn't happy about it but agreed after asking us what we wanted her to do? She also pointed out that it wasn't the chef or her staffs fault and they'd suffered a bad batch of meat. She also pointed out that nobody else ever complains about their steaks which is surely a contradiction in terms. Very disappointed, 3 stars given 2 for excellent front of house staff and 1 for a...

Hi I come in last night normally quite good but I was disappointed last night as one member of staff I felt very rushed in to my order so I ordered some drink’s and look at the menu and asked about the lunch time menu she said we do not do it anymore I said ok I will order something else but she was waiting at the table with pen and paper so I did feel very rushed to order something so I ordered a chicken burger and chips the best chips I have had but the burger was a little on the greasy when I pick it up greasy was coming out of my burger? But I still eat my burger it was ok but if I haven’t been rushed in to my order maybe Wood of ordered something else? And I didn’t like the look of my plate it looked very old like a dog plate and also it come with a bbq sauce and a gray container but when I looked at the gray which I thought was gray it was not gray? More bbq sauce? In a gray container? That’s is odd and also I did say I have a app to collect my points? But she was such in a rush with the payment? So when she comes back I said can I put my points on now she said I can’t do it now because the manager as to do it but it was not my fault if was had’t Bin in a rush I could of done it so I asked someone else which he did it for me thanks you to the man I also ordered on my app a pudding and it take a long time? And the man said Wood you like a pudding I said I ordered on the app he said he will check if it is coming it take about 20 min’s for it to come sorry to moan but I do love the...

Upon arriving and ordering our food and drinks through the app we waited over 25 minutes just for soft drinks after speaking to who we could only see actually doing some work (serving food & collecting old dishes) asking about our drinks, he spoke to another colleague who spoke to us from a distance on what drinks we order. Eventually she cam over and asked us again what we ordered after we said we ordered it through the app her response was “oh that goes to the kitchen not to us” we have been here several times before & within few minutes of ordering the drinks were served much quicker than today. She then went into the kitchen and came back out & asked us again what drinks we ordered. After a 3rd time telling the lady our drinks order the food finally arrived before the drinks. Unfortunately the chips & onions on both mixed grills were stone cold & same with the chips on the kids meal ordered aswell, spoke to the man again whilst he was clearing a table about the cold food he took them back out to the kitchen to be redone ( redone meaning the kitchen staff put them under a heater so didn’t get freshly cooked chips or onion rings, the bowls where just as hot as the food which you can tell they just reheated them)

After coming here as a loyal customer several times I won’t be returning due to the level of service &...

The Plough is a really great place to go, yes it is pub food BUT it's cooked and presented in a way that makes you want to eat every last morsel! Have been here many times but usually at lunchtime and service is excellent! The seating arrangement in the restaurant means you can talk, walk to the bar without being bothered by other people's conversation. The whole pub looks fresh, modern and cosy. The staff are SO helpful and pleasant. The food, of which there is a tremendous variety, tastes fresh, looks delicious and is plentiful. This is our 'go to' place to eat especially when it's comfort food you crave.

Haven’t been to The Plough for a while. I love that it’s cheap and cheerful and happy to partake in a breakfast for a change! John who served us was like a breath of fresh air and fully deserved a mention! Also tried my very first Bacon and Maple Syrup waffles! Delish! Unlimited tea and filtered coffee.

Great pub with typical pub grub very tasty food. We had a small child with us who has multiple allergies and this was dealt with amazing care, in fact he said his food was 25 out of 10, pretty good. Thank you for all you did.
