A Lovely Hidden Gem – The Potting Shed Café, Derby

I had a wonderful experience at The Potting Shed Café in Derby and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area. The location is charming, with beautiful views and a relaxing atmosphere that makes it perfect for a quiet bite or a catch-up with friends. Parking is conveniently available right outside the café, which made our visit even more hassle-free.

The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, all smiles and happy to help. Their warm service added to the overall comfort and pleasantness of the visit.

We ordered a portion of chips, and I was pleasantly surprised — they were quite different from the usual style but absolutely delicious and full of flavour. I also had a cheese toastie based on the staff’s recommendation, and I’m glad I did. It came with a fresh side salad and a very tasty coleslaw. The only small downside was that I had asked for the cheese to be melted, but unfortunately, they couldn’t do that — my only suggestion for improvement.

We also had drinks, and my flat white was exactly what I needed — smooth, rich, and well-made.

We visited on a Saturday and stayed a bit longer than expected, forgetting they close at 3:30 PM. Despite that, the staff were incredibly kind and didn’t rush us out, allowing us to enjoy our chat peacefully.

All in all, this café is a lovely spot with great food, friendly service, and a beautiful setting. I’ll definitely return if I’m ever in...

Went here a while back and was going to post a review but then decided not too until I heard about what the owner has been doing so sod it here's my review....

Looked nice in a good area was greeted by over worked staff so not friendly. Then I asked about the place and the staff moaned about the job and how tired they was and couldn't wait to finish always a bad sign and tbh I don't care.

Food was really salty and chips covered in fat....said to the staff could I have a replacement but they close soon which was around 3:10pm and don't quote me on this the close time is like 330 but again not my problem....

Was offered a free desert and a refund which we got however after the dirty looks and you can tell the staff was talking about me cause I complained or whatever just made me want to leave so I did. I didn't want to write a review I wanted to just forget what happened but there's is a bunch of story's going round which I won't mention here but it's seedy and dark place and I don't recommend it ....also if the rufe manager or owner wants to write a ridiculous and smarmy comment back I'll happily write more reviews on...

Really enjoy it here. Came yesterday with my friend. Asked for gluten free and also vegan options but didn't get lots of choice unfortunately however found something sweet for my friend and I asked for something of menu I could eat that the team members were more than happy to accommodate. Food was really nice Iced oat coffee was just wonderful. Nice atmosphere. Not too busy and appreciated that the cafe layout isn't cluttered with as many tables next to each other as they can like you find in other places. Friendly team members who helped with everything I asked :) Also refreshing to see team members looking individual and not having to cover up their tattoos :)

Lost a star for lack of gf and VG options unfortunately but still happy to return and will return in...

Called in this morning for a breakfast (1st time in a long time) we got a free table straight away 09.40am there was a few In already, I had the big breakfast & my wife the vegetarian & a pot of tea, everything was very nice, although my breakfast wasn't that large the quality of the food was very good & it was enough so I would say the price is ok & plenty of tea from the large teapot. Staff are all spot on, all in all a pleasant experience, 👍

One of the best cafes in the area. The location inside the garden centre is just superb and the modern facilities are so welcomed for this area. The food quality is outstanding with most things homemade or locally sourced. The cakes are outstanding! And they are more than happy to help with specific orders. Tables outside are wonderful on a sunny day, plus the inside area is nice on a cold one. The staff are so friendly and helpful.
