“Five Star Foodie Delight - Fine Cuisine Quality - At Pub Prices - One of the best in the UK” As a 'traditional' pub offering a menu this is EXCEPTIONAL, I rate this as one of my best ever pub food experiences - in the UK and my best food experience in Brighton - period. Situated just a twenty minute bus ride ( one of my fave routes in the city ) from Brighton centre of just a ONE minute walk from Portslade Station - trust me if you ever visit Brighton it is so worth the effort to visit. Menu: Extensive and constantly changing - the quality of the menu compares 'Fine Dining' venues that would usually charge at least £10 more for each dish. The food sets your taste buds on fire, the chefs are so creative bringing different flavours together that commands your attention. What do I recommend? The entire menu! Advice: If you are on a mission to have starter, main and dessert then leave out any supplements for the main - why? The main dish is BIG - if you doubt me try the Sunday Roast selection. A main course side vegetable dish is like having a starter - the cauliflower cheese is so delicious it should be illegal! Fair price - and look out for the daily special offers. All set in a delightful pub that has real atmosphere with an extensive beer garden with the option to eat outdoors. Also very family friendly the kids love the play area with a huge Thomas The Tank vibe railway carriage. The Railway Inn has a 'buzz' this place is so inviting - you don't want to leave. Huge range of wines etc all served by lovely friendly staff. Delicious food served promptly with style...

Don’t know why we have gone back, we want to like the place, we really do, but the staff (with the exception of the girl who used to work for BA) are just woeful. Firstly it takes ages to get a drink, quite literally ages. COVID is no longer an excuse as it’s never as long as it anywhere else. Secondly, IF the staff are attentive on more than one occasion we’ve found them quite rude, especially if they’re in a position of oversight over the other staff, it’s all a bit too much for them. Thirdly, after a night with 6 of us (from 2 households) and laying for every round as we went they then tries to spring a bill of £6.02 that was unpaid. Now bearing in mind no food and drink combination could come to that amount, that every food and drink option doesn’t have a £0.99 or any combination that could come to that amount it was clearly their mistake. We rightly challenged it, as we had paid for everything, but the Supervisor decided to ask the Security staff to ask us to leave. Now she didn’t do this, because weak management that’s clearly in the wrong wouldn’t. But then the Security staff were clearly reluctant as there was not only an obvious error but also there was no need. All I’d say is this is the 3rd such event where poor customer service has lead me to the conclusion that it not worth going as there are many other places better for service. I’ve tried to like it, it was good before COVID, but it...
Read moreThis large mock Tudor facade pub is unmissable if you step out of Portslade station and turn towards Boundary Road. The Railway Inn, Portslade was built in 1860, by local brewers Vallance & Catt, about 20 years after the Portslade station itself.
Stepping inside a well-stocked bar with a friendly & welcoming staff... Davina & Co. Chic decor & chilled atmosphere. As you head deeper into the pub, behind the central staircase there’s a raised seating area offering more low seating and padded bench sets.
Beyond that room is the garden set up with lots of individual tables and chairs, which is cheerful and bright.
As well as the typical major brands: Guinness, Birra Moretti, and some more. Huge variety of both cask and keg beers, wines & spirits.
Weekly pub quizzes, monthly art classes and live acoustic music once a month, & seasonal events are happening throughout the year.
The Menu at The Railway Inn is ‘Street Fusion’, inspired.
Fried chicken, nachos, tacos, loaded fries, burgers, and then a load of oriental Asian cuisine such as bao, bento, gyoza and noodles... Plus a children's menu too.
The Ice Cream outlet is built into the bar stocked by Hove Gelato, which has as much ice cream on offer as you’d expect to find at your local Gelataria.
Dog-friendly 🐕
